The Nurse role is a NATIONAL position. This position is located in Les Cayes.

Role Purpose: The Nurse working under the supervision of the Head Nurse, plays a critical role in helping Hope for Haiti achieve its vision to provide quality healthcare to the community members of the Greater South. The Nurse assesses the physical, emotional, and social health of patients. As part of the Healthcare Team, the nurse is responsible for ensuring that the Hope for Haiti clinic, Infirmary St. Etienne (ISE), provides first-class healthcare to our patients.

Major Responsibilities :

• Provide care to patients at the ISE and mobile clinics
• The Nurse assists the patient from all points of view including monitoring vitals, updating our Electronic Medical Record system, meeting the primary needs of the patients, transmitting safety, competence and confidence in the health choices made, and assisting doctors to perform daily health care activities.
• Participate in community health outreach, chronic care or other healthcare programs as needed which included, but not limited to mobile clinics and community screenings.
• Provide health care services at the ISE in different departments:
  • Wound care station
  • Vital stations
  • Pharmacy
  • Women’s health
  • Vaccination
  • Dental
• Educates patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care, as well as answering patients questions regarding their health.
• Work collaboratively with the medical team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Provide instant medical care in emergencies and ensure that treatments are carried out effectively.
• Understand and agree that employment with Hope for Haiti/Fondasyon Kuehner implies the possibility that work may be extended beyond the 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM workday, including on weekends, in order to meet the demands of our mission.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records.
• Record nursing assessments, interventions, medications, and patient outcomes.
• Complete required reports in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.

EDUCATION/ SKILLS / EXPERIENCES

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• Effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare team members is crucial for providing quality care
• Passion and enthusiasm for non-profit work
• Ability to use a computer and tablet including basic word processing, (Microsoft Word, Microsoft excel), Google Suite skills (writing/sending emails, setting up calendar meetings) and electronic medical record systems
• Superior organizational skills and a strong ability to prioritize
• Written and spoken fluency in French and Haitian Creole, with preferred knowledge of English
• Creative problem-solving skills and self-starting abilities

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

National candidates only. Benefits package including health insurance, paid time off, maternity and parental leave. This is a full-time/remote position based in Les Cayes. This position is NOT accompanied, and the organization provides no relocation, logistics, or housing packages.
