Nurse Manager (RN) - Kidney Center

Discussion

Description

Lead where clinical complexity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and meaningful nursing leadership come together. The Nurse Manager position in the Kidney Center has the opportunity to shape care for patients who depend on life-sustaining dialysis while developing a team in a dynamic academic medical center environment.

This leadership role oversees a busy Kidney Center with approximately 20 dialysis stations and a diverse patient population. You will lead through change, advance clinical outcomes and quality, strengthen team performance, and partner closely with nephrologists and interdisciplinary colleagues.

The Role

The Kidney Center is a fast-paced dialysis environment serving chronic and transient patients. Care can include higher-acuity dialysis and blood transfusions, creating a setting with greater clinical variety and patient movement than a traditional outpatient dialysis clinic.

This is an opportunity for an experienced nursing leader who can see opportunities, engage people in solutions, and carry improvement work through to measurable results.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead nursing operations in a complex, high-volume dialysis setting operating Monday through Saturday.
  • Support safe, effective care for chronic, higher-acuity, and transient dialysis patients.
  • Partner closely with nephrologists and an interdisciplinary team that includes social work and dietitian resources.
  • Drive clinical outcomes, quality initiatives, and performance metrics.
  • Lead organizational and clinical change while helping employees understand and participate in improvement efforts.
  • Develop and engage the team while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
  • Navigate crucial conversations with a balance of empathy, respect, and accountability.
  • Maintain strong regulatory performance within an environment governed by CMS and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Build a culture where differences are respected and employees are supported in growing professionally.

Why UVA Health

At UVA Health, kidney care is supported by the depth of an academic medical center and a broad nephrology program. UVA's kidney specialists care for patients across the continuum of kidney disease and dialysis, and its outpatient dialysis network extends across central Virginia.

For a nursing leader, the Kidney Center offers something especially compelling: the ability to lead dialysis care with interdisciplinary resources and specialty expertise close at hand. UVA Health's Kidney Center brings nephrology professionals together in Charlottesville to care for patients with kidney disease and those receiving dialysis.

Here, you can:

  • Lead meaningful clinical and operational change rather than simply maintain existing processes.
  • Develop expertise in higher-acuity dialysis, quality improvement, regulatory readiness, performance management, and complex clinical operations.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and other disciplines in an academic healthcare environment.
  • Build and develop a nursing team while influencing both patient outcomes and the experience of people delivering the care.
  • Work with patients receiving life-sustaining treatment, including opportunities to build meaningful long-term relationships with chronic dialysis patients.
  • Grow your leadership capabilities within a health system that combines patient care, education, research, and specialty expertise.

Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
