About the Role
Sunshine Coast Tubestock Growers
is seeking an experienced Nursery Supervisor (Nursery Person) to join our team
on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a senior production role within our
wholesale propagation operation. The successful candidate will be responsible
for advanced plant propagation, supervising casual production staff,
maintaining nursery inventory records, and ensuring production output aligns
with forward customer orders. The role also involves regular weekend irrigation
checks as part of normal operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and strike cuttings and manage tube production
cycles
• Monitor plant stock health, growth, and quality
standards
• Coordinate and supervise daily propagation tasks across
the nursery
• Provide training and guidance to casual production
staff
• Maintain accurate propagation, potting, and stock
movement records in the nursery inventory system
• Reconcile physical plant quantities with recorded
inventory data
• Monitor production output against forward customer
orders and report potential shortfalls
• Coordinate packing activities during high-volume
dispatch periods, including staff allocation and verification of plant
quantities
• Oversee preparation of master pack documentation and
confirm alignment between physical stock, inventory records, and dispatch
requirements
• Conduct regular irrigation monitoring including weekend
crop checks
• Collect and prepare propagation material for scheduled
production cycles
Skills
• Practical knowledge of plant propagation techniques
including cutting preparation, striking, and tube production
• Ability to identify and respond to plant health, pest,
and disease issues
• Competence in nursery inventory management and stock
reconciliation
• Strong supervisory and team coordination skills
• Good attention to detail, particularly in
record-keeping and stock verification
• Ability to work flexibly across a Monday to Sunday
roster, including weekend irrigation checks
• Sound written and verbal communication skills for
recording and reporting purposes
Experience
• Demonstrated experience in plant propagation and
production in a wholesale or commercial nursery environment
• Experience supervising or directing production staff in
a nursery or horticultural setting
• Experience maintaining nursery stock records and using
inventory management systems
• Experience coordinating packing and dispatch
activities, including stock verification
• Experience conducting irrigation monitoring and crop
checks (including weekend operational checks) is desirable
Qualifications
• Certificate III in Horticulture (Nursery Production) or
a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Additional qualifications in horticulture, plant
science, or business management are desirable but not essential
