THE POSITION
East Lake Management Group (ELM) is seeking a full-time Construction Project Manager. The
ideal candidate is responsible for providing oversight and coordination of concessionaires’
construction activities at O’Hare International Airport (ORD). Duties will include oversight of
concessionaires’ architectural design and construction teams, review of tenant improvement
designs, and coordination of construction with Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), project
managers, construction managers and airlines. This position reports directly to the Tenant
Development Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Complete field inspections on all concession construction projects, primarily tenant new
construction and redevelopment projects. Candidates will also be involved in reviewing CDA
initiated projects to support concession developments.
· Meet with CDA Concessions, other CDA divisions and consultants, concessionaires, and
concessionaires’ design and construction team. Review pre-construction plans and
documentation to ensure compliance with CDA SOP and construction guidelines.
· Work directly with CDA Design and Construction team and Unison tenant coordinators to
review tenant designs. Provide insight on feasibility of plans and identify and challenges that
may occur during the construction process and once concession is fully operational.
· Participate in all concessionaire design meetings, including CDA preconstruction
meetings.
· Review contactors barricade plan, construction operation plan, including safety information.
Ensure construction project has committed safety personnel, as required by
CDA.
· Review contractor operation plan to verify mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
connections consistent with connections shown in drawings.
· Conduct periodic construction site inspections to ensure projects are on time and assist in
resolving construction and safety issues that may arise during construction. Work with Unison
tenant coordinators to ensure construction work conducted in compliance with all City and
CDA requirements.
· Review contractor submitted scan reports and floor markings. Coordination with
contractor and CDA to resolve all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing impacts.
· Coordination with CDA Facilities, Safety and Security and other interested parties on all
crane activities and late-night activities, needed to complete construction of tenant projects.
· Develop field inspection guidelines for ongoing construction management activities and to
serve as instruction for future construction management team.
· Provide weekly project updates to CDA Concessions and Unison on all construction
projects. Include updates to construction schedules and projected store openings.
· Follow up with concessionaires, and concessionaires’ architectural designers and contractors
to ensure timely performance of concessionaires’ design and construction activities (daily
during the week via status update from the contractor or physically going to the construction
site).
· Follow up and assist concessionaire construction permitting.
· Schedule and coordinate any required meetings with concessionaires and CDA
Concessions, other CDA divisions and consultants, and other stakeholders to resolve base
building issues relative to concessionaires’ designs and construction.
· Attend presentations and answer questions based on project development or solutions to
potential issues which may arise due to scope, surrounding environment, bldg. related issues,
etc.
· Continue to recommend modifications and revisions to the Standard Operating Procedures
for both MDW and ORD specifically tailored for Concessions (CDA Concessions Projects

THE CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will be a professional with demonstrated experience in a similar role
with a strong preference for candidates with previous construction management experience.
Experience and Training:
· A bachelor’s degree in building science, construction engineering, construction management
is preferred. Commensurate related construction management experience is an acceptable
substitute for a degree.
· Minimum of 5 to 7 years of construction management experience
· Detailed knowledge of construction and design methods with emphasis on design,
preparation of construction documents, preparation of specifications, building materials,
construction costs, and building codes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Proficiency in MS Office, project management and CADD
· Detailed knowledge of building codes and ADA
· Knowledge and experience in all phases of construction projects
· Knowledge of other disciplines, Structural and MEP FP coordination
· Excellent business writing and verbal communication skills.
