Oilfield Chemist - Engineer

Job title *Engineer-Chemist* Key Responsibilities - Analyze crude oil and petroleum products to determine composition, properties, and other characteristics. - Develop and implement chemical processes for lab and chemical testing. - Design and oversee laboratory experiments and pilot plant operations to test new processes or improve existing ones. - Work closely with process engineers to integrate chemical treatment methods into overall asset management strategies. - Develop formulations for chemical additives used in production processes to enhance efficiency and safety. - Monitor and optimize the performance of chemical processes and ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards. - Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting process issues related to chemical reactions or treatments. - Evaluate new technologies and chemical products that can provide competitive advantages or operational improvements. - Prepare technical reports, publish research papers, and present findings to management and industry stakeholders. - Ensure quality control of raw materials and finished products through rigorous chemical testing and analysis.

- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field; a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is highly preferred. - Minimum of 5 years of experience as a chemist or chemical engineer, specifically in the petroleum industry or a related field. - Extensive knowledge of chemical analysis techniques, including GC-MS, HPLC, and spectroscopy. - Experience in the development and application of chemical additives for petroleum processes. - Strong understanding of the chemical properties of petroleum and the challenges associated with its processing. - Proven ability to design and conduct laboratory and pilot scale experiments. - Familiarity with industry standards and regulations regarding chemical handling and disposal. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills. - Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously. - Professional certification or membership in a recognized chemical or petroleum engineering association is an asset.
