On-Prem & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Summary
Designs and maintains a hybrid Windows/Azure infrastructure, ensuring uptime, security, and performance while automating tasks with PowerShell.
Location: Singapore
The role is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting a hybrid IT infrastructure that integrates both on-premises servers and Azure cloud services. The engineer ensures high availability, reliability, security, and efficiency across all enterprise infrastructure components.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services.
- Azure Cloud Support: Design, deploy, and manage Azure resources, such as Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Azure AD, Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, and storage solutions.
- Hybrid Integration: Implement and manage hybrid infrastructures such as connecting on-premises networks to Azure via VPNs or ExpressRoute and configuring Azure AD Connect.
- Monitoring and Performance: Use monitoring tools to optimize system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive solutions to prevent outages.
- Security and Compliance: Apply security best practices, configure firewalls, antivirus, Endpoint Management, and ensure compliance with corporate policies and regulatory standards.
- Automation and Scripting: Develop PowerShell scripts for automation of routine tasks, deployment, and configuration management.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery: Design, implement, and test backup and disaster recovery strategies both on-premises and in Azure.
- Collaboration: Work closely with application teams, network engineers, and IT support teams during system upgrades, projects, and migrations.
- Documentation: Maintain configuration documentation, standard operating procedures, and records of infrastructure changes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience
- Proven experience with Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022) and enterprise network services.
- Azure certifications preferred (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect).
- Strong knowledge of Azure services: Virtual Machines, Resource Groups, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, Storage Accounts, and Networking.
- Experience with on-premises devices such as Network Firewall, Router, Switch, Wifi-Router, NAS backup.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware.
- Proficiency in PowerShell, Azure CLI, or ARM templates.
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud architectures and network connectivity solutions (VPN, ExpressRoute).
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of IT security best practices and compliance standards.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
Desired Attributes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in cloud migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure optimization projects.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
- Knowledge of Linux servers is advantageous but not mandatory.
