Onsite Patient Scheduling Representative
Summary
Schedules and verifies patient appointments in a high-volume orthopedic clinic, confirming insurance details and documenting referrals in a call center environment.
Compensation
$16.00 – $17.00 per hour
Compensation is based on experience, certification level, and relevant orthopedic or high-volume clinical background.
What you'll do:
- Contacting insurance companies via phone or internet to obtain effective date of insurance coverage, type of coverage, co-pay or co-insurance information, coverage for x-rays and casting, PCP information if required, whether referral is required, and address for claims submission.
- Ensure all benefit information if properly documented in the system.
- Contact patient if information we have is not correct or we are unable to verify benefits for any reason, in order to obtain accurate information prior to patient’s scheduled appointment.
- Properly document the need for referral and coordinate with the Authorization Representative to confirm if any authorization questions occur.
- Utilize insurance websites (Availity, Humana Military (Tricare), United Healthcare, etc.…) to obtain insurance benefits.
- Assure compliance with all company plans policies and procedures set forth by the Florida Orthopaedic Institute
- Efficiently answer calls and schedule patient appointments
- All other duties as assigned.

What you need:
- Candidate must be a high school graduate. (required)
- Registration, scheduling, healthcare benefits experience helpful.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Able to multi-task and handle high call volumes.
- Must have working knowledge of Windows based computer environment and typing skills.
Bonus if You Have:
- 2 or more years of experience in a healthcare environment. (preferred)
- Experience in orthopaedics, trauma, or a high-volume practice
- Knowledge or understanding of scheduling systems
- Athena EMR experience
- Experience in orthopedics or another specialty clinic
- Prior experience assisting with orthopedic procedures such as injections or suture removal
