Operating Room Nursing Assistant

About the Position: This position is located at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. This is the Defense Health Agency's equivalent of a Surgical Technician.

Check patient's chart, surgical consent, and identification band for completeness.

Perform sponge, needle, and sharps count during various periods of all surgical procedures.

Select and pass instruments and equipment to the surgeon during surgical procedures by anticipating the surgeon's needs.

Select, assemble, and organize required supplies (setup, connect, test, operate drills, saws, etc.) and instruments for surgical procedures.

Prepare and maintain a sterile field.

Provide direct surgical support of a highly specialized nature to patients undergoing surgery, including the newest and most complex, state-of-the-art procedures in multi-specialties in the Operating Room, including robotic surgery.
