Operating Room RN

DISC Surgery Center is seeking a full-time Operating Room RN for our Carlsbad location. This position will have a Monday - Friday schedule. Experience with Orthopedic and spinal procedures is required.

In this position, you will:

  • Conduct thorough preoperative assessments to gather patient history, identify potential risks, and ensure proper preparation for surgery.
  • Serve as the patient advocate throughout the surgical experience, ensuring effective communication and addressing patient concerns.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for each procedure, ensuring proper equipment, supplies, and instrumentation are available.
  • Scrub and circulate during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile field and providing continuous patient monitoring.
  • Administer medications and assist the anesthesia team as needed.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team to facilitate a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Accurately document all aspects of the surgical process, including patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Adhere to strict infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sterile surgical environment.
  • Monitor patients during the immediate postoperative period, providing post-anesthesia care and managing any complications that may arise.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists, to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the enhancement of patient outcomes and safety protocols.
