OPERATION MANAGER
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all diaphragm wall and piling operations from project commencement to completion.
- Develop construction strategies, work sequences, and execution plans for foundation works.
- Plan and allocate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor resources to achieve project objectives.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Geologists, Planning Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, and Safety personnel to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor project progress and ensure works are completed according to the approved construction programme.
- Supervise diaphragm wall construction, including guide wall installation, trench excavation, slurry management, reinforcement cage installation, concrete tremie placement, and panel joint treatment.
- Supervise piling works, including bored piling, driven piling, secant piling, barrettes, and other deep foundation systems.
- Ensure all works comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and contractual requirements.
- Review and approve work schedules, construction methodologies, lifting plans, and resource allocation.
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance to maximize operational efficiency.
- Ensure quality control through regular inspections, testing, and compliance with project quality standards.
- Identify operational risks and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor project costs, equipment utilization, productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate procurement of equipment, materials, and specialist subcontractor services.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations and environmental requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture through effective leadership, toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and risk management.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, and implement corrective actions.
- Review technical issues and provide practical engineering solutions during construction.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, designers, and government authorities on technical and operational matters.
- Attend project meetings and provide progress updates, operational reports, and technical recommendations.
- Monitor project budgets and assist in cost control and resource optimization.
- Support contract administration, including variations, claims, and project documentation.
- Ensure all statutory inspections, permits, and approvals are obtained before commencing work.
- Mentor and supervise engineers, supervisors, foremen, and operational staff to improve performance and technical competency.
- Ensure accurate project records, inspection reports, and as-built documentation are maintained.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance.
- Ensure successful project completion, commissioning, and handover in accordance with contractual requirements.
