Operations - Construction Manager

Summary

The Construction Manager will oversee the construction of cellular towers/MOD upgrades/Tech Upgrades/and General Maintenance by supervising both the ground and tower crews to ensure timely completion of the project and maintain project budgets.

Schedule the project resources in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadline

Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors or design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints or construction problems

Assist the Project Manager to prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports or cost tracking reports

Work closely with the Project Manager to interpret and understand plans and contract terms and be able to execute scope in accordance with contracted scope

Plan, organize, or direct activities concerned with the construction or maintenance of structures, facilities, or systems

Take actions effectively to deal with the results of delays, bad weather or emergencies at the construction site

Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, or other regulations and ensure contracted scope is completed

Study job specifications, plans and scope to determine appropriate construction methods

Direct and supervise all workers

Implement and oversee QSA programs

Requisition supplies or material to complete construction projects

Investigate damage or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out

Determine labor requirements for dispatching workers to construction sites

Evaluate construction methods and help determine cost-effectiveness of MOD

Help develop and implement environmental protection programs

Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with health & safety environment regulations

Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 20 pounds; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes regularly

Must be willing to travel out of market/state, for up to several months at a time (90%)

Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing and participate in random testing program

May be required to work long and unpredictable hours

Position requires working indoors and outdoors in all types of weather

Must possess valid driver’s license and are required to drive company vehicles. A commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred

Minimum Qualifications

Proven working experience in tower construction management

Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods

Extensive knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards

Understanding of all facets of the tower construction process

Familiarity with project management software package

Ability to plan and see the “Big Picture”

Competent in conflict and crisis management

Leadership and human resources management skills

Excellent time and project management, architecture, engineering or related field preferred

Supervisory Requirements

This position will directly supervise the Tower and Ground Lead positions

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with a typical work scheduled of Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with overtime requirements; weekends as needed.

Travel

Travel is required for this position; usually between 50 to 90% of the time.

Required Education and Experience

H.S. Diploma or GED is required. Bachelors of Science degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field preferred, but not required.

Six years’ experience in tower construction management preferred
