Operations Director
Description
About the role
Throughout your career, you have led plants, optimized value chains, resolved complex crises, and achieved demanding operational goals. Today, the market is not asking you for one more routine management position or a career climb to the next corporate rung: it offers you the opportunity to capitalize on all your experience by becoming the mentor and guide to the next generation of leaders.
We are looking for an Operations Director with a solid and consolidated track record, who is in the final stage of their professional career and whose greatest challenge and motivation is to leave a tangible mark: leading the operational transition and tutoring high-potential internal managers toward the autonomous management of the company.
What you'll do
Executive tutoring and development: Evaluate the competencies of the middle managers assigned to succession, design their replacement plan, and accompany them (shadowing) in critical decision-making, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
Operational management and governance: Temporarily lead the manufacturing, assembly, refractories, and purchasing/logistics areas, guaranteeing quality, safety, and compliance standards in turnkey projects.
Standardization and method: Implement efficient work routines, rigorous control of workshop loads/capacities, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean), leaving behind robust and documented processes.
Progressive delegation and planned retirement: Gradually transfer responsibility and formal leadership to the two successors, ensuring they acquire the necessary autonomy and judgment to assume management at the end of the project.
Reporting and final balance: Collaborate directly with General Management, reporting on the progress of the replacement plan and delivering an operational roadmap and final diagnostics upon closing.
What we're looking for
Track record: More than 20-25 years of experience in heavy industrial environments, capital goods under design/project, heavy boilermaking, or thermal/refractory engineering.
Management experience: Having successfully served as Operations Director, Industrial Director, or Plant Director leading multidisciplinary teams and custom manufacturing projects.
Education: Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, or similar). Postgraduate training in Operations Management or Business Management is highly valued.
Pedagogical vocation and generosity: A profile with marked skills in listening, empathy, composure, and a vocation for transferring knowledge without micromanaging.
Nice to have
Languages: Good level of English (valuable for projects and international communication).
What you'll get
Real impact and legacy: The satisfaction of crowning your career by training the future directors of a top-tier industrial company, in a project where your value is measured by what you teach and build.
Zero political friction: An environment where your role does not compete for long-term power quotas, guaranteeing a relationship of maximum trust, mutual respect, and transparency both with the ownership and with the tutored team.
Attractive and tailored conditions: Competitive remuneration package in line with senior management, negotiable based on profile and agreed dedication.
How you'll work
Flexibility and defined project: A mission with a fixed duration and clear objectives, ideal for managing this professional stage with focus, autonomy, and personal balance.
