If you’re passionate about developing people, improving operational performance, and delivering outstanding customer service while supporting a more sustainable future, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
What You’ll Do
As Operations Manager, you’ll play a key role in leading our IT Recycling Operations, ensuring our teams work safely, efficiently, and in line with customer expectations and regulatory requirements. You’ll drive operational performance, develop your people, and identify opportunities to improve processes, maximise revenue, and support the continued growth of the business.
Core Responsibilities
Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team, coaching Supervisors and Team Leaders to achieve individual and departmental KPIs.
Take ownership of operational performance, supporting the achievement of revenue, profit, and annual budget targets.
Monitor sales-out activity, stock levels, and inventory to maximise efficiency, productivity, and commercial returns.
Build strong relationships with internal and external customers to ensure service expectations are consistently met.
Work closely with Warehouse and Logistics to coordinate customer collections and deliveries, ensuring agreed service levels are achieved.
Manage recruitment, performance reviews, training, and development to build an engaged and capable team.
Ensure all operations comply with relevant health and safety legislation, environmental regulations, security requirements, and company procedures.
Drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies, investigating root causes of operational issues, and implementing effective solutions.
Role-Specific Tasks
Identify and develop new and existing trading relationships to secure the best possible prices for goods sold through IT Recycling Operations.
Develop and maintain effective stock management and location systems, ensuring inventory is accurately recorded, accessible, and efficiently managed.
Monitor and report on operational KPIs, including safety, quality, delivery, cost, team performance, and environmental impact.
Implement Lean principles and other continuous improvement practices to reduce costs, improve productivity, and minimise process failures.
Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain accurate operational documentation, supporting the requirements of relevant environmental and quality management standards.
Oversee site security arrangements at Bathgate, including access controls, security inspections, opening and closing procedures, and emergency response arrangements.
Support operational change initiatives, ensuring improvements are embedded and deliver measurable results.
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience in operations management, ideally within IT recycling, IT asset disposition (ITAD), manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, or a similar operational environment.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience coaching teams and managing performance against targets.
A commercially minded approach, with the ability to understand operational and financial performance and deliver revenue and profit objectives.
Excellent communication, organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Experience driving change, improving processes, and challenging existing ways of working to achieve better results.
A good working knowledge of IT equipment, IT recycling, and ITAD processes.
A strong understanding of health and safety, environmental compliance, and safe operational practices.
Five GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English.
Desirable: A relevant degree or leadership qualification, IOSH/NEBOSH certification, experience with ISO management systems, and knowledge of Lean, 5S, and data analytics.
