Operations Manager (Data Centres)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a mission-critical data centre facility in Singapore.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring the 24/7 availability, reliability, safety and operational performance of the facility. This includes leading site operations teams, managing critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure, overseeing maintenance activities, managing incidents and vendors, and ensuring compliance with operational standards and customer SLAs.

The successful candidate should have strong experience operating live data centre or mission-critical environments, together with solid technical knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day 24/7 operations of the data centre, ensuring availability, reliability and compliance with operational standards and SLAs.
  • Manage critical facility infrastructure including HV/LV electrical systems, UPS, generators, power distribution, cooling systems, BMS/DCIM, fire protection and associated building systems.
  • Lead, manage and develop facilities engineers, operations engineers, technicians and shift personnel.
  • Plan and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities across critical infrastructure.
  • Review and approve operational activities, maintenance procedures and changes within the live data centre environment.
  • Manage incidents, alarms and critical equipment failures, including escalation, service recovery and root cause analysis.
  • Develop, review and maintain SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, risk assessments and other operational documentation.
  • Manage third-party vendors, maintenance contractors and service providers, ensuring performance, safety, quality and SLA compliance.
  • Ensure effective change management and risk management for works conducted within live critical environments.
  • Monitor facility performance, capacity and operational risks, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and resilience.
  • Support customer requirements, technical audits, site inspections and operational reporting.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Projects, Construction and Commissioning teams during upgrades, fit-outs, capacity expansion and handover into operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company EHS, security, regulatory and operational standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational readiness for new infrastructure and capacity.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management or a related technical discipline.
  • Approximately 8–15 years of experience within data centres, critical facilities or mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of direct data centre operations experience within a live environment.
  • Strong technical understanding of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including UPS, generators, power distribution and cooling systems.
  • Strong understanding of SOP/MOP/EOP processes, change management, incident management, preventive maintenance and root cause analysis.
  • Experience managing technical teams, shift personnel, vendors and maintenance contractors.
  • Good understanding of redundancy, resilience, uptime and critical facility operating principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage incidents and make sound decisions in high-pressure, mission-critical environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience with a data centre operator, colocation provider, hyperscaler or large-scale mission-critical facility.
  • Experience operating Tier III / Tier IV or equivalent high-availability data centre facilities.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale, cloud or enterprise customers within a colocation environment.
  • Exposure to data centre commissioning, operational readiness and facility handover.
  • Experience managing multiple facilities or large-scale data centre campuses would be advantageous.
