Operations Senior Project Manager
Summary
Gallagher is hiring an Operations Senior Project Manager in Hamilton, NZ, to hands-on lead large-scale manufacturing and supply-chain projects — turning strategy into executable plans and controlling scope, schedule, cost, risk and delivery across engineering, operations, technology and supplier workstreams. Needs senior delivery experience in engineering/FMCG/supply-chain plus PMP or PRINCE2.
About Gallagher
Our purpose at Gallagher is “Protect what matters most” and we live it every day. Not only does our technology protect some of the world’s highest-security environments and agriculture businesses, but our purpose also means we care deeply about our people and their families. The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Operations Senior Project Manager to lead complex, large-scale projects that improve Gallagher’s manufacturing capability, delivery performance and readiness for change. You will provide practical, end-to-end leadership across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, technology, facilities and external manufacturing partners.
This is a hands-on delivery role. You will turn strategic objectives into executable plans, coordinate interdependent workstreams and maintain clear control of scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, resources and benefits. Working closely with technical specialists, operational teams, suppliers and senior leaders, you will remove barriers, support timely decisions and ensure solutions are implemented safely, effectively and sustainably.
The Fit
You will be a pragmatic senior project leader who is comfortable working in the detail while maintaining a clear view of the overall outcome. You build alignment across diverse stakeholder groups, communicate complex delivery information clearly and stay composed when priorities shift or constraints tighten.
Crucially, you will bring significant project delivery experience gained in an engineering, FMCG or supply chain environment. This industry experience is essential, as you will need to understand operational dependencies, technical requirements, supplier interfaces and the realities of implementing change in a complex, fast-moving environment.
Significant experience leading complex, large-scale projects through full implementation in engineering, FMCG, manufacturing, supply chain or industrial operations environments.
A tertiary qualification in project management, engineering, operations, manufacturing, business or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
A recognised project management qualification or certification, such as PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent practical accreditation.
A strong track record managing multiple workstreams across engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, technology, facilities, commercial activity and people change.
Practical experience with implementation activities such as equipment or process introduction, manufacturing transfers, site readiness, commissioning, validation, cutover, ramp-up and stabilisation.
Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, resources, suppliers, schedules, risks, governance and senior-level reporting.
Strong systems thinking, commercial awareness and the judgement to frame options, recommend a course of action and escalate early.
A collaborative, resilient and hands-on leadership style, with the ability to influence frontline teams, technical experts, senior leaders, suppliers and external partners.
Experience in electronics manufacturing, contract manufacturing, new product introduction, manufacturing scale-up, production transfer, capacity expansion, lean manufacturing or regulated product environments would be an advantage.
