Operations Specialist - Middle Office Trade Support (Fixed Income)

Role Overview

Verition is seeking a motivated Operations Specialist to join its Middle Office Trade Support team. The role provides daily Portfolio Manager support across fixed income-related trade flow and listed futures, sitting within the middle office and involving close coordination with portfolio managers, risk, product control, settlements, fund administration, technology, and operations. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and responsive — someone who takes ownership of issues and follows through to resolution in a fast-paced, multi-PM environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and respond to Portfolio Manager requests and trade-related inquiries throughout the day.
• Support trade capture for fixed income and listed futures strategies.
• Track and manage trade lifecycle events including expiries, cashflows, and corporate actions.
• Investigate and resolve booking discrepancies, P&L questions, and trade disputes.
• Escalate issues to appropriate internal teams and follow through to resolution.
• Liaise daily with Portfolio Managers, risk, product control, settlements, and fund admin.
• Coordinate with technology and operations on system issues or workflow gaps.
• Communicate clearly with front office on open items and priority escalations.
• Perform daily position, cash, and trade reconciliations.
• Investigate and resolve breaks between internal systems and prime broker or custodian records.
• Support settlement fail resolution and counterparty dispute management.
• Identify operational gaps and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
• Manage lifecycle events for fixed income instruments including maturities, resets, and rollovers.
• Support expiry and exercise processing for listed futures and options where applicable.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure timely booking of all trade activity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of trade support, middle office, or operations experience at a hedge fund or asset manager.
• Solid working knowledge of fixed income products (bonds, rates, credit) and listed futures.
• Practical understanding of trade lifecycle events — expiries, cashflows, resets, rollovers.
• Experience performing daily cash, position, and trade reconciliations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable liaising with front office and across internal teams.
• Highly organized, task-oriented, and able to prioritize effectively under pressure.
• High level of intellectual curiosity, strong work ethic, and a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience in a multi-strategy or multi-PM hedge fund environment preferred.
• Familiarity with OMS/PMS platforms and prime brokerage portals preferred.
• Exposure to additional asset classes — equities, equity derivatives, options, FX, or OTC products a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred.

The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000 (USD). In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a discretionary performance bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as geographic location, work experience, qualifications, and skill level.
