Provide the Operations Department with monitoring, activity schedule development, advice on budget, Work Order scheduling input, modifications support, training, and identification of improvements in the areas of Fire Brigade, Hazmat, Condensate Polishing and Regeneration Systems, Make-up Demineralizer System and associated water systems, Radioactive Waste Systems, Outage Water Management and other areas as assigned. Implement assigned programs and projects, and provide assistance to assigned departments, as required.
EXPERIENCE
Operations Support Specialist
- Fully qualified Journeyman Plant Operator, qualified on all Plant Operator Watch stations.
- Five years Operations experience at STP qualified as a condensate polishing watches watch stander and radioactive waste watch stander.
- Qualified Fire Brigade Leader
- On-the-Job Trainer and on-the Job Evaluator qualified.
- CTC qualified.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree preferably in Computer Science, Math or Engineering. Without a degree, five years experience in one or any combination of the following:
1) Nuclear Power Plant Operations; 2) Nuclear Power Plant Maintenance; 3) Nuclear Power Plant Engineering; 4) Nuclear Power Plant Construction or Startup; 5) Military Nuclear Operations or Maintenance.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations Support Specialist
- Operations Contract Technical Coordinator (CTC) responsibilities, as assigned.
- Monitor, schedule and provide budget input on Operations system’s resin performance.
- Coordinate, schedule, oversee radioactive waste processing and liaison with Radiation Protection and Chemistry, as required.
- Input to Operations budget on Fire brigade, Hazmat, Chemicals, and Resin costs.
- Outage Water Management duties, as assigned.
- Plan and coordinate Condensate Polisher startup/bypass/shutdown evolutions.
- Operations Fire Brigade and Hazmat coordinating and oversight; including selected participation in Fire Brigade and Hazmat Training activities, scheduling and performance of Fire Drills, and ordering and maintenance of applicable equipment and gear.
- Train, instruct, and qualify personnel on Operation water processing and treatment systems, as assigned.
- Represent operations at Technical Workshops; this may require offsite travel.
- Support investigations, as assigned.
- Provide support to the units on nights and weekends, as needed.
- Work with the Procedure Group no revisions/development of new procedures; including Review and Comment, as assigned.
- Attend training, as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Staff Operations Support Specialist
- Serve on Event Review Team when needed.
- Provide oversight and guidance to Operations and Sr Operations Support Specialists.
- Take the lead in the business planning and budgeting activities for section.
- Research new methods, tools, techniques and technology that can assist section in meeting its goals.
- Actively remain aware of industry events, business issues, and innovations to ensure section maintains high industry standards.
