Position Summary
The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment used to manufacture high-quality wood components. This position ensures products are produced safely, accurately, and efficiently while meeting company quality standards and production schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC routers, machining centers, and related woodworking equipment.
Load materials and programs into CNC machines according to production specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering drawings, and production schedules.
Verify machine settings, tooling, and material dimensions before production.
Perform first-piece, in-process, and final quality inspections using measuring tools.
Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain product quality and efficiency.
Replace tooling and perform routine machine maintenance as required.
Identify and troubleshoot minor machine issues and notify maintenance or supervision of major equipment problems.
Maintain accurate production records and complete required documentation.
Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and housekeeping requirements.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and waste reduction.
Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, maintenance, and other production team members.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Previous CNC machine operation experience in a woodworking or manufacturing environment preferred.
Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings.
Basic computer skills and experience entering production data.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, tape measures, and gauges.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and reach throughout the workday.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to wood dust, machine noise, and varying temperatures.
Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating CNC routers using woodworking software.
Knowledge of CNC programming fundamentals.
Experience with cabinet, furniture, millwork, or architectural wood products manufacturing.
