Operations technician

Open 21d

Summary

Field technician installs, maintains, and troubleshoots Hydroleap’s electrocoagulation and electrooxidation water-treatment systems on customer sites across Singapore.

About Hydroleap

Hydroleap is a Singapore-based clean technology company reinventing how industrial wastewater is treated. Instead of relying on heavy chemical dosing, our electrocoagulation (HL-EC) and electrooxidation (HL-EO) systems use electricity to remove contaminants — cutting chemical use, sludge volumes, and operating costs while enabling customers to reuse far more of their water.

Our systems are deployed across data centres, cooling towers, pharmaceutical and semiconductor plants, agrifood facilities and construction sites. Backed by investors such as Real Tech Holdings, Mitsubishi Electric, Wavemaker Partners and Seeds Capital, we are scaling rapidly across Singapore and the wider Asia-Pacific.

As we grow, our field operations team is what keeps these systems performing for customers every day — and that's where you come in.

About the Role

As an Operations Technician, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Hydroleap's water/wastewater treatment equipment on-site. You'll work hands-on with mechanical and electrical systems, support plant operations, and help ensure our equipment runs smoothly for our clients. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, takes ownership of equipment reliability, and is comfortable working independently in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain water/wastewater treatment plant equipment to ensure smooth and continuous plant performance

  • Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting on equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, sensors, filters/strainers, piping, and control panels

  • Carry out routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and equipment servicing according to schedule

  • Diagnose equipment faults and carry out or coordinate repairs to minimize downtime

  • Perform basic calibration, verification, and maintenance of field instrumentation and analyzers.

  • Support installation, testing, commissioning, and shutdown/turnaround activities for plant equipment

  • Handle chemical dosing and related equipment safely, following site safety procedures

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment readings, and incidents

  • Supervise and coordinate with contractors on-site, ensuring work is carried out safely and to standard

  • Support and mentor junior technicians as needed

  • Respond promptly to equipment issues, including occasional after-hours or on-call support

What We're Looking For

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical and/or electrical equipment troubleshooting and maintenance

  • Experience in wastewater or water treatment systems is a strong plus, but not required — we welcome candidates from process plants, manufacturing, chemical, or similar industrial environments

  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems (pumps, valves, piping, filters) and/or basic electrical systems and controls

  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment

  • Comfortable performing hands-on work in industrial environments, including lifting equipment, climbing stairs, and working outdoors.

  • Nitec, Higher Nitec, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field

  • Valid Class 3 driving license (required) — the role involves travelling between client sites

  • Willing to travel overseas for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, training, and project support when required.

  • Forklift license and/or relevant safety certifications (e.g. Working at Height, confined space, WSH) are advantageous

  • Able to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems on-site

  • Willing to work on-site and be available for occasional after-hours support when needed

  • Strong safety mindset and attention to detail

Nice to Have

  • Prior exposure to chemical handling and dosing systems

  • Experience with SCADA, PLCs, or basic instrumentation and controls

  • Rigger, signaling, or lifting equipment certification

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work with cutting-edge water treatment technology

  • A hands-on role with real ownership over equipment and outcomes

  • A supportive team environment with room to grow technical skills
