Operator (Well Test)

Job purpose

Perform well testing operations, including the setup, operation, and maintenance of well test equipment to gather critical data on well performance and reservoir characteristics. Execute testing procedures, ensuring equipment functionality, and ensuring data accuracy to support reservoir management and production optimization.

Key accountabilities

Job specific accountabilities

  • Operate and maintain well test equipment, including separators, meters, gauges, and other testing instruments, to conduct well tests according to operational requirements and safety standards.
  • Set up and calibrate testing equipment prior to well tests, ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly and meets operational specifications.
  • Execute well test procedures, including flow testing, pressure testing, and fluid sampling, to collect accurate data on well performance, production rates, and fluid properties.
  • Monitor and record real-time data during well tests, including pressure, temperature, flow rates, and fluid compositions, and ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions or operational issues during well tests, coordinating with maintenance teams and supervisors as needed.
  • Adhere to ADNOC Drilling’s health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, ensuring safe operation of testing equipment and compliance with safety protocols during well tests.
  • Prepare and submit detailed well test reports, including data analysis and recommendations, to support reservoir evaluation and decision-making processes.
  • Maintain and inspect well test equipment, performing routine checks and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment readiness and reliability.
  • Collaborate with well test engineers and field supervisors to plan and execute well tests effectively, providing input on test procedures and equipment needs.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior operators and field assistants on well test procedures, equipment handling, and safety practices.
  • Comply with all UAE, ADNOC, ADNOC Drilling and client Asset Integrity Management codes of practice.

    Provide on-the-job training to meet competency based training programs for UAE nationalization.

  • Health, safety, environment (HSE) and sustainability
    Support the institution of an HSE culture and ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines across the division in line with international standards, best practices and corporate code of practices and to ensure integrity and safety of assets.
  • Housekeeping
    Maintain the work environment clean and tidy before, during operations, in line with established standards of hygiene and housekeeping.
  • Reports
    Provide inputs to prepare section progress reports for company management.
    Prepare various key performance indicator (KPI) checklists for management.

Qualifications, experience, knowledge & skills

Minimum qualification
High school diploma or equivalent. A technical diploma in engineering or a related field is preferred.

Minimum experience & knowledge & skills
3-5 years of experience in well testing operations within the oil and gas industry, with hands-on experience in operating well test equipment.
