Ophthalmic Technician

We have opportunities for Ophthalmic Technicians based in our Ankeny clinic.

We are looking for motivated candidates to join our team. Successful candidates will have a desire to learn in a fast-paced setting and the ability to positively interact and help patients while providing patient education and instructions. Interested applicants should be willing to work both independently and as a member of a team, provide excellent patient care, and perform patient workups in a precise and efficient manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Document patient’s medical and ocular histories in electronic medical record.
  • Perform patient workups.
  • Complete diagnostic testing, such as retinoscopy, manual refraction, applanation A-scan, keratometry, tonometry, OCT’s and visual fields.
  • Provide patient education according to physician instructions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Travel to other offices as needed.

Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Medical office experience required.
  • Ophthalmic testing experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Experience providing excellent patient care.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and communicate concerns regarding the results of diagnostic testing.
