OPSEC II

Position Overview:

We are seeking an Information Security Specialist to orchestrate protective measures safeguarding Missile Defense System (MDS) information from loss, compromise, or unauthorized disclosure. In this role, you will drive the implementation of the MDA Information Security (INFOSEC) Program, serving as the primary administrator for both the Operations Security (OPSEC) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) programs.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Security (OPSEC) Support:

- Draft and maintain updates for MDA OPSEC policy documents, OPSEC instructions, the OPSEC Coordinator handbook, and the MDA Master Critical Information List.

- Provide direct assistance to program OPSEC Coordinators; conduct formal OPSEC assessments, guide coordinators through self-assessments, and draft associated findings memoranda.

- Facilitate regularly scheduled OPSEC coordination meetings, attend monthly installation OPSEC meetings, and participate in annual OPSEC awareness events.

- Develop creative OPSEC awareness materials, including Communication Round Table announcements, portal and kiosk banners, and briefing materials.

- Compile program metrics to draft the comprehensive MDA Annual OPSEC Report.

Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Management:

- Review draft documents, emails, videos, and images intended for release to external entities (public domain, Congressional Affairs, GAO, DoD IG) to guarantee no classified or CUI material is leaked.

- Coordinate the internal CUI decontrol process with information originators or Original Classification Authorities (OCAs) utilizing Security Classification Guides (SCGs).

- Assist in the development of agency-wide CUI guidance, draft DoD Implementation Status Reports, and create training slides for Security Managers.

- Collaborate with Information Security and the MDA CERT to address, contain, and remediate reported network data spills.

- Draft memoranda, staffing packages, and task response documentation; Maintain and update tracking databases, folder systems, and program metrics to produce monthly and annual task status reports.

Core Competencies Required

Analytical & Evaluative Skills: Ability to analyze complex documents and media to identify potential OPSEC indicators or CUI data points.

Policy Implementation: Strong understanding of DoD and MDA Information Security (INFOSEC) requirements and the ability to translate them into actionable local guidance.

Stakeholder Coordination: Proven ability to interface with Program Offices, Congressional Affairs, and external audit agencies (GAO/DoD IG) for security reviews.
