WANTED: A Fantastic Human Being Who Wants to Grow With Us!

We’re looking for someone with amazing people skills, strong emotional intelligence, and a genuine desire to become a valued, long-term member of our team.

We’re not just looking to fill a position. We want someone who is excited to learn, build relationships with our patients and coworkers, and grow with our privately owned optometry practice for years to come.

Our team is passionate about exceptional patient care, growth, innovation, and collaboration. We believe in continuously improving ourselves so we can better serve our patients. We value team members who take pride in their work, show up consistently, take initiative, and approach challenges with a positive attitude.

If you enjoy working with people, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are looking for a stable position where you can develop your skills and build a future, we’d love to meet you!

Position Overview

We are seeking a part-time or full-time team member, with flexible scheduling options between Monday and Saturday. Saturday availability is required.

This position combines hands-on patient care with administrative responsibilities, making it a great fit for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and learning new skills.

Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Support

  • Prepare patients for their eye examinations by collecting medical histories, chief complaints, and family histories.
  • Perform basic diagnostic testing, including checking eye pressure, capturing retinal images, and measuring vision.
  • Teach patients how to properly insert and remove contact lenses.
  • Clean and disinfect examination and work-up rooms between patients.
  • Assist doctors with additional tasks during examinations.
  • Help create a welcoming, professional, and positive experience for every patient.

Reception & Administrative Support

Team members will also be cross-trained to assist with front-office responsibilities, including:

  • Checking patients in and out.
  • Collecting copays and other patient payments.
  • Answering phones and scheduling and confirming appointments.
  • Verifying insurance eligibility and obtaining authorizations.
  • Helping maintain an organized and efficient daily workflow.

What We’re Looking For

We believe the right attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn are just as important as technical skills. Our ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Is looking for longevity: Wants to find a workplace where they can grow, feel valued, and build a long-term career.
  • Is dependable and punctual: Understands that consistency and accountability are essential to a successful team.
  • Has an upbeat, friendly, and positive personality.
  • Demonstrates strong emotional intelligence and communicates with patience, professionalism, and empathy.
  • Takes pride in their work and pays close attention to detail.
  • Is flexible and willing to jump in wherever help is needed.
  • Manages time effectively and keeps pace with a busy schedule.
  • Takes initiative, works independently once trained, and follows through on responsibilities.
  • Remains calm, professional, and solution-oriented under pressure.
  • Is adaptable, receptive to feedback, and eager to learn new skills.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively and contributing to a supportive team environment.

Education & Qualifications

  • Required: Previous experience working in a professional office environment.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a medical office, particularly in a patient-facing or administrative role.
  • Strongly preferred: Experience in an optometry or ophthalmology practice.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional communication skills, including a pleasant telephone manner.
  • Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software and systems.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

We are willing to train the right person in our specific clinical and administrative processes. However, we are looking for someone who already understands the importance of professionalism, dependability, and providing excellent service in an office setting.

Compensation

Pay is based on experience and qualifications.

Why Join Our Team?

  • A place to grow: Develop new skills and take on additional responsibilities as you become more experienced.
  • A supportive environment: Work with a collaborative team that values communication, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • A privately owned practice: Become part of a team where your contributions matter and you can build meaningful working relationships.
  • Flexible scheduling: Part-time or full-time opportunities, with scheduling options Monday through Saturday.
  • Modern workspaces: Work at our Central Park or Downtown Fredericksburg locations, featuring remodeled offices and modern technology.
  • Career development: Opportunities to grow professionally and advance within the practice.
