Job description

General DBA Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database environments across Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MS SQL.

• Design and implement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

• Monitor database health, performance, and resource utilization using tools like OEM, pgAdmin, MSSQL Profiler, and MongoDB Atlas.

• Troubleshoot database-related issues, including performance tuning and query optimization.

• Implement security best practices, access controls, encryption, and compliance standards.

• Automate database administration tasks using scripting (SQL, PowerShell, Shell, Python).

• Work closely with developers to optimize queries, indexes, and schema designs.

• Manage database replication, clustering, and failover solutions for high availability.
  

Oracle Database Administration:

• Manage Oracle RAC, ASM, and Data Guard for high availability and disaster recovery.

• Optimize performance using AWR, ADDM, and SQL Tuning Advisor.

• Implement Oracle GoldenGate for real-time data replication.

• Perform RMAN backup, cloning, and disaster recovery planning.

• Apply patches and perform database upgrades while ensuring minimal downtime.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

• Relevant certifications (preferred): Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) – Database Administration

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate

• 5+ years of experience as a DBA managing Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MS SQL databases.

• Proven experience in high availability, clustering, replication, and disaster recovery planning.

• Hands-on experience with database migration and cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud PostgreSQL).

• Strong expertise in SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.

• Experience with database backup and recovery solutions across multiple platforms.

• Proficiency in automation scripting (SQL, Shell, PowerShell, Python).

• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform,Ansible).

• Knowledge of containerized databases (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud DB services.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Oracle Exadata and Oracle GoldenGate for real-time data replication.

• Hands-on experience with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud PostgreSQL).
