Senior Infrastructure Architect / Database Service Delivery Lead
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Architect / Database Service Delivery Lead to lead enterprise-scale infrastructure and database service delivery across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for infrastructure and database architecture, service delivery governance, operational excellence, cloud transformation, automation and stakeholder management.
The role requires strong hands-on experience with Oracle databases, alongside broad expertise across enterprise database platforms, cloud infrastructure and ITIL service management.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Database Architecture
Lead the architecture, design and continuous improvement of enterprise infrastructure and database environments.
Provide technical leadership for Oracle database environments, including architecture, performance, availability and scalability.
Define scalable and resilient architecture standards across on-premises and cloud platforms.
Provide technical direction across Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and DB2 environments.
Design and implement High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), backup, replication and business continuity solutions.
Lead database migration, upgrade, consolidation and transformation initiatives.
Develop infrastructure and database roadmaps aligned with business and technology requirements.
Service Delivery & ITIL Governance
Lead end-to-end service delivery across Incident, Problem, Change, Release and Service Request Management.
Establish and maintain service delivery standards, SLA/KPI governance and operational processes.
Lead major incident management and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities for critical production issues.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve service stability, availability and operational efficiency.
Ensure compliance with security, audit and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate technical teams to identify and implement preventive and corrective actions.
Cloud & Transformation
Lead cloud adoption and migration initiatives across Microsoft Azure and AWS environments.
Support migration and modernisation of database workloads to cloud platforms.
Develop hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure strategies.
Drive infrastructure modernisation, automation and operational transformation.
Identify opportunities to improve scalability, performance and cost efficiency.
Automation & DevOps
Drive automation initiatives across infrastructure and database operations.
Utilise tools such as Ansible, Python and Shell/Bash scripting to automate operational processes.
Develop automated health checks, patching, incident remediation and recovery processes.
Support CI/CD and automated deployment processes where applicable.
Stakeholder & Team Management
Act as a senior technical point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders.
Engage with senior management and technology leadership on infrastructure strategy, service performance and transformation initiatives.
Lead and mentor infrastructure, database and engineering teams.
Coordinate cross-functional teams during major incidents, transformation projects and technical implementations.
Conduct regular service reviews and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
10+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure, database administration, architecture or service delivery.
Mandatory: Strong hands-on experience with Oracle databases in large-scale enterprise environments.
Strong experience in Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard and/or GoldenGate.
Strong experience managing large-scale enterprise database and infrastructure environments.
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and other enterprise database platforms is preferred.
Hands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
Strong understanding of HA/DR architecture, database migration and infrastructure transformation.
Experience working within ITIL-based service management environments.
Proven experience leading technical teams and managing complex service delivery environments.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Experience working with large enterprise or multinational environments is preferred.
