The Academy of Music (https://mus.hkbu.edu.hk/web/) has rapidly emerged as one of the leading institutions in Hong Kong, providing a rigorous music curriculum. The Academy is poised to significantly strengthen its capacity for nurturing the advancement of the creative arts with the completion of the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity, which provides resources for a wide array of creative arts disciplines.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Academy to coordinate orchestra rehearsals, performances, tours and instrument management to ensure the smooth delivery of concerts and other music-related activities.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee all orchestra rehearsals, concerts and related activities, including venue facility bookings, equipment setup, staging requirements, and other logistical arrangements;
  • Manage the storage facilities, inventory records, and maintenance schedules for orchestral instruments and related equipment;
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for music preparation, including the coordination of materials required by musicians, conductors and guest soloists;
  • Plan and coordinate tour logistics and schedules, including transportation, hotel and flight reservations, billing administration, and the preparation of tour handbook; and
  • Support other music-related activities and special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A recognised bachelor’s degree, preferably in music, cultural management, or a related field;
  • A minimum of two years’ relevant working experience, preferably in orchestra or arts administration;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  • Proficient in MS Office and general IT applications;
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required, and to undertake overseas travel;
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and effectively as part of a team.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
