OTR Driver

OTR Driver is responsible for operating heavy-duty trucks, including on-highway vehicles, coordinating longer routes, and supporting loading and unloading activities with a high degree of autonomy. This position requires strict adherence to all applicable transportation, safety, and company regulations.
- Safely operate belt trailers, double belly dump trailers, and other heavy-duty vehicles to transport ore and materials from mine sites to the production facility.
- Load trucks using front-end loaders and properly tarp materials for transport.
- Transport equipment and materials between facilities as needed.
- Operate loaders, forklifts, and other heavy equipment as required.
- Maintain radio and cell phone communication with the mill control room regarding delivery instructions and daily priorities.
- Communicate equipment, ore, weather, road condition, and other operational issues to the Transportation Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Monitor road conditions and promptly report safety concerns.
- Inspect equipment and ensure safe operating conditions before and during use.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance as required.
- Manage plant waste removal to prevent operational disruptions.
- Understand and execute daily transportation requirements and priorities.
- Support general operational duties, including picking up parts, conducting safety audits, assisting with operator training, and maintaining parts inventory.
- Follow all applicable state and federal transportation regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
- Maintain a high level of safety and quality in all work performed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Doubles and Tankers endorsements required.
- Current DOT physical and medical card required.
- Qualifying DMV driving history with an excellent driving and safety record.
- Prior CDL driving and heavy equipment operating experience preferred.
- Manufacturing or mining experience preferred.
- MSHA knowledge preferred.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Warehouse experience preferred.
- Basic computer software experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good attendance history.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout all seasons.
- Ability to climb multiple levels using stairs and ladders.
- Ability to work from elevated platforms.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, including shovels, hammers, and wrenches.
- Ability to perform the physical duties associated with operating trucks, loaders, and other heavy equipment.
