We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Out-of-Hours Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our nursing team at Pets’n’Vets Roundhouse Veterinary Hospital in the southside of Glasgow.
Our hospital combines primary care and referral services, providing a varied caseload and the opportunity to deliver high standards of nursing care to medical and surgical patients. We are looking for an RVN who is passionate about patient welfare, enjoys working as part of a collaborative team and wants to make a real difference to our patients overnight.
With a rota of 7 nights on followed by 14 nights off, this role offers an excellent opportunity to balance a rewarding nursing career with your life outside work, while being part of a team that truly values the contribution of its nurses.

Our dedicated team of Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, Patient Care Assistants and Client Care Assistants work together to provide first-class care for our patients and an excellent experience for our clients.

We believe in supporting and investing in our people, offering opportunities to gain additional qualifications alongside a structured programme of career progression within our wider group.
Our excellent night team is dedicated to providing outstanding care for our medical and surgical inpatients. With our out-of-hours service operating from 10 pm on weekdays and 6 pm at weekends, our team can focus on delivering the high standard of overnight nursing care we strive for.
Your role and responsibilities
As an Out-of-Hours RVN, you will be a key member of our nursing team, working closely with the Lead OOH RVN and OOH Patient Care Assistants to provide exceptional nursing care to a varied range of medical and surgical cases.
Your role will involve monitoring and caring for hospitalised patients overnight, recognising changes in their condition and working collaboratively with the veterinary team to ensure each patient receives the care they need.
In the evenings, you will liaise with our ward RVN and veterinary surgeon to develop appropriate overnight nursing plans, ensuring continuity of care for every patient. In the mornings, you will provide a comprehensive handover to the day team, sharing important updates on patient progress, treatments and ongoing care requirements.
We encourage our RVNs to contribute their knowledge and professional opinions when discussing cases. Understanding each patient's clinical history, presenting condition and reason for hospitalisation is essential, and we believe your clinical judgement and nursing expertise should be valued and encouraged.
This is an excellent opportunity for an RVN who enjoys the clinical responsibility of inpatient nursing and wants to develop their skills while working alongside an experienced and supportive out-of-hours team.
The role follows a 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota, working from 6:30 pm to 7:30 am. This pattern offers an attractive work-life balance, giving you extended periods away from work while allowing you to make a valuable contribution to the care of our patients overnight.
In return, we offer a competitive salary that reflects the importance of our nursing team, alongside a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for ongoing professional development.
