About the position:
At E.L. Haynes's Out-of-School Time program, we provide a rich, STEAM-based experience designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence in students from PreK 3 through 8th grade. Our program blends hands-on learning, creative exploration, and exciting quarterly field trips (both on-site and off-site) to create an engaging and memorable experience for every student. OST will run from August 24th, 2026 to June 16th, 2027, operating from 6:45-8:15 AM for before-care and 3:00 PM-6:00 PM for aftercare. On Wednesdays, our program will operate from 12:30 PM-6:00 PM
As an Assistant Group Leader, you will:
- Develop a positive, supportive, productive classroom environment and implement engaging daily activities for all students;
- Support the internalization and implementation of lesson plans aligned with our Out-of-School Time program offerings, learning offerings, and social-emotional development;
- Prepare learning materials that support STEAM-aligned programming and enrichment;
- Establish efficient classroom routines and procedures to ensure a safe learning environment;
- Collaborate consistently with colleagues, school administration, and families; share updates with families and staff about student engagement and performance;
- Proactively adhere to policies and procedures, making the safety and care of students the primary focus;
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational, multi-tasking, problem solving and decision making skills; meet assigned deadlines;
- Demonstrate strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service; maintain open, professional, and constructive communication with students, colleagues, and families;
- Participate in regular professional learning opportunities to develop and expand skill;
- Communicate and partner with families, sharing regular updates on student learning during Out-of-School Time programming;
- Complete all necessary Childcare compliance requirements and trainings; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
