Outpatient Psychiatrist – Fort HealthCare Behavioral Health
Location: Fort Atkinson, WI
Position Type: Full-Time
Specialty: Psychiatry (BC/BE)
The Outpatient Psychiatrist provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and ongoing medication management for patients in an outpatient clinical setting. This role focuses on delivering evidence-based, patient-centered mental health care while collaborating with an interdisciplinary treatment team to support long-term recovery and wellness.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, including monitoring efficacy and side effects
- Provide supportive psychotherapy as appropriate
- Collaborate with psychologists, therapists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards, state regulations, and organizational policies
- Provide crisis intervention and referrals to higher levels of care when indicated
- Participate in case conferences, clinical meetings, and quality improvement activities
Patient Population
- Adults / Children & Adolescents / Geriatric
- Common conditions treated may include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, ADHD, PTSD, and substance use disorders
Qualifications
Required
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Active (or eligible) state medical license
- DEA registration
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology
Preferred
- Experience in outpatient or community mental health settings
- Subspecialty training (e.g., Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry)

- Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Patient-centered and culturally competent approach to care
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Time management and organizational skills
Work Environment & Schedule
- Outpatient clinic setting
- 4-5 clinic days
- Limited on-call requirements (telephone)
- In-person, hybrid, or telepsychiatry options may be available
