Outside Sales

Reports to: Outside Sales Manager


Summary: The Outside Salesperson develops and executes sales strategies to drive revenue, profitability, and operational efficiency while supporting the company’s mission and core values. This position focuses on building and maintaining relationships with contractors, builders, architects, and customers through project-based selling, proactive account development, and technical product support. The Outside Salesperson serves as a professional representative of the company, identifies sales opportunities, supports customers throughout the project lifecycle, and promotes a positive company image in the marketplace.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

▪ Actively manage and grow a personal protfolio of contractor and builder accounts.
▪ Meets or exceeds sales and margin goals established in collaboration with the Outside Sales Manager.
▪ Measures performance by the sale of brands within various segments and with multiple audiences.
▪ Travel throughout assigned territory to strengthen relationships with established customers and identify and develop new prospects into lasting business partners.

▪ Identify key performance indicators for customers and align solutions to support their business goals.
▪ Meets with architects, contractors, and customers to review projects, plans and proposals to drive product specification and sales.

▪ Provides technical support, including reviewing or assisting with design drawings, shop drawings, and installation details.

▪ Generates quotes, bids, and orders in accordance with company procedures.
▪ Demonstrate products using samples, catalogs and current sales materials.
Maintain up-to-date product knowledge across building materials categories.

▪ Partner with store operations, purchasing, and internal associates to ensure product availability, pricing accuracy, and customer satisfaction.

▪ Remain proficient in all company software systems, including BisTrack, IQ, or similar
▪ Maintain organized records, expense reporting, and documentation.

▪ Respond to all customer correspondence (emails and voicemails) within 24 hours of receipt.
▪ Resolve customer service issues in a timely, professional and effective manner in collaboration with Outside Sales Manager.

▪ Maintain a high level of service to ensure long-term customer retention and satisfaction.

▪ Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
▪ Invest in ongoing professional development, including product knowledge, systems, and company policies.
▪ Participate in team initiatives, training, and collaborative sales efforts.
▪ Support a culture of safey, organization, and professionalism across all workspaces.
▪ Responsible for maintaining a professional, organized and safe working environment.

▪ Field-based role with regular travel to job sites, offices, and customer locations.
▪ Requires occasional nights and weekends for customer events, showroom appointments or staffing coverage.



Skills/Qualifications:
▪ Lead by example; be approachable by all associates and customers.
▪ Maintain intellectual curiosity; prepare and challenge yourself.
▪ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, coworkers, and trade
professionals.
▪ B.S. degree or equivalent 5-7 years’ work experience
▪ 5+ years of outside sales experience in building materials (lumber, millwork, hardware, etc.)
▪ Self-starter with strong problem solving and decision-making ability.
▪ Excellent time management and leadership skills.
Strong understanding of contractor sales cycles, job site operations, and project-based selling.

▪ Ability to read, analyze and interpret common sales and merchandising statistics and financial
reports.
▪ Experience with estimating, quoting, and bid packages preferred.

▪ Plan reading and estimating for budgeting sales of millwork products and installation.

▪ Proven ability to meet sales and margin targets.

▪ Proficiency in CRM systems and sales software (BisTrack, IQ, or similar); as well as Office365.

▪ Customer Service and dispute resolution.

▪ Must be detail oriented, well organized, and adept at managing multiple priorities.

▪ Ability to lift >= 50lbs
▪ Valid MA driver’s license, possess clean driving record, and ability to travel throughout assigned territory.
▪ Bilingual skills are a plus (English/Spanish highly desirable).
