Location: Remote, United States
Geographic Preference:
East Coast preferred
Employment Type:
Full-Time
Industry:
Freight Brokerage / Third-Party Logistics (3PL)
Compensation:
This position offers a guaranteed weekly minimum against commission, whichever is higher. Compensation is commission-based, not a base salary plus commission.

Company Overview

Our client is a growing freight brokerage specializing in flatbed and open-deck transportation. The company partners with customers across the United States, providing reliable transportation solutions backed by responsive service, strong carrier relationships, and operational excellence.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Outside Sales Representative with a proven background in flatbed freight brokerage sales and an established, transferable book of business.

This is a revenue-producing sales role, not an entry-level or training position. The ideal candidate has direct relationships with flatbed shippers, a history of generating consistent gross profit, and the ability to bring over customer relationships and begin producing revenue quickly.

Candidates whose experience is primarily in dry van or refrigerated freight without substantial flatbed brokerage sales experience will not be considered a strong fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business with direct shippers requiring flatbed, open-deck, step-deck, Conestoga, oversized, or specialized transportation.

  • Build and manage a profitable book of business through prospecting, customer acquisition, and account development.

  • Leverage existing shipper relationships to generate revenue quickly.

  • Conduct outbound prospecting through cold calling, email outreach, referrals, networking, and industry connections.

  • Identify freight opportunities, develop competitive pricing, and negotiate profitable transportation solutions.

  • Collaborate with Operations and Carrier teams to ensure reliable freight execution.

  • Maintain strong customer relationships through consistent communication and service.

  • Expand existing accounts by identifying additional lanes, facilities, and transportation needs.

  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and track revenue, gross profit, and account growth.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in freight brokerage or third-party logistics sales.

  • Direct, substantial flatbed or open-deck freight brokerage sales experience is required.

  • An established book of business with customer relationships that can realistically transfer to a new brokerage.

  • Demonstrated success generating consistent weekly or monthly gross profit.

  • Strong understanding of flatbed equipment, pricing, capacity, freight lanes, and market conditions.

  • Experience developing direct shipper relationships and closing new business.

  • Ability to generate revenue quickly without extensive training.

  • Strong prospecting, negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote sales environment.

  • Comfortable being measured against gross-profit and account-growth targets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing relationships with manufacturers, steel companies, lumber companies, construction material suppliers, equipment manufacturers, or industrial shippers.

  • Experience developing flatbed freight business across the East Coast or Southeastern United States.

  • Proven history of bringing customer relationships or a transferable book of business to a new brokerage.

  • Experience coordinating dispatch or carrier coverage in addition to sales.
