  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, laboratory testing, and other advanced technical procedures

  • Support emergency stabilization, resuscitation, and critical care interventions

  • Perform anesthesia preparation, monitoring, recovery, and pain assessment

  • Obtain diagnostic radiographs and support advanced diagnostic procedures

  • Continuously monitor ICU patients, assess treatment response, and communicate changes to the veterinary team

  • Provide thorough patient handoffs and participate in interdisciplinary rounds and case discussions

  • Educate and support clients through emergency treatment plans, hospitalization, medications, and discharge care

  • Collaborate with Emergency, ICU, General Practice, and Specialty teams to provide seamless continuity of care

  • Maintain accurate medical records while upholding patient safety, infection prevention, and hospital protocols

  • Current CVT, RVT, or LVT credential in good standing strongly preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years of veterinary technician experience, with demonstrated proficiency in emergency, critical care, specialty, or other high-acuity medicine

  • Advanced proficiency in emergency triage, patient assessment, stabilization, and critical care nursing

  • Advanced proficiency in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication administration, fluid therapy, diagnostics, and radiology

  • Strong anesthesia monitoring, pain management, and patient recovery skills

  • Demonstrated ability to recognize patient deterioration and respond effectively in urgent and critical situations

  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple high-acuity patients while maintaining accuracy, safety, and attention to detail

  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills

  • Ability to remain composed, adaptable, and compassionate in a fast-paced emergency environment

  • Commitment to patient advocacy, clinical excellence, and continued professional development

  • Availability to work OVERNIGHT

Highly experienced non-credentialed Veterinary Technicians may be considered when they demonstrate advanced ER/ICU nursing skills, significant high-acuity clinical experience, and proficiency across the technical competencies required for this role.

Preferred

  • Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Emergency & Critical Care or Anesthesia & Analgesia, or interest in pursuing specialty certification

  • Experience in a specialty referral, emergency, or multidisciplinary hospital

  • Advanced CPR and emergency stabilization training

  • Fear Free Certification and/or Low-Stress Handling Certification

  • Experience mentoring technicians, assistants, or veterinary students
