P&ID Drafter/Designer

POSITION SUMMARY

A skilled and detail-oriented Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) Drafter. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate P&ID drawings that are essential for the design, construction, and operation of industrial facilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

P&ID Drafter IV

  • Utilize CAD programs to make simple modifications to existing P&IDs.
  • Works closely with the P&ID Supervisor to enhance knowledge and skillset.
  • Learn and implement P&ID drafting standards, P&ID Legend Sheets, and company procedures.
  • Maintain organized records of P&ID drawings and related files.

P&ID Drafter III

  • Interpret engineering sketches and markups to update P&IDs with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure drawings align with P&ID drafting standards and company procedures.
  • Learn fundamentals of Piping specification codes and valve classifications.
  • Collaborate with team members to gain familiarity with drawing workflows and tools.

P&ID Drafter II

  • Independently create and revise P&ID’s with moderate complexity.
  • Coordinate drafting efforts with P&ID team members.
  • Support Designers and Engineers with drafting tasks and data entry (Piping plans and sections, tank data sheets, line list, etc.).
  • Complete understanding of P&ID legend sheets and Company Procedures.
  • Basic understanding of Piping specification codes and valve classifications.

P&ID Drafter I

  • Develop preliminary P&IDs from flowsheets.
  • Participate in meeting with P&ID Supervisor and Process Engineer to assign service codes and piping specifications.
  • Provide training and leadership to junior drafters.
  • Provide input on drafting standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PER JOB LEVEL

  • P&ID Drafter IV – Tech/Trade School
  • P&ID Drafter III – Tech/Trade School or equivalent; two (2) years of experience
  • P&ID Drafter II – Tech/Trade School or equivalent; four (4) years of experience
  • P&ID Drafter I - Tech/Trade School or equivalent; six (6) years of experience
