SUMMARY
This position performs a variety of tasks to ensure the upkeep and functionality of facilities and grounds, combining building maintenance and repairs with general upkeep and custodial work of parks. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, trash collection, basic irrigation repair and upkeep, painting, and indoor and outdoor structural repairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Irrigation System & Park Maintenance:
- Minor upkeep and repair of existing irrigation systems.
- Performs regular maintenance work, basic repair, and installation of sprinklers.
- Routine ground maintenance work: weed control and clean up, grass seeding.
- Cut and remove roots.
- Basic field preparation and maintenance for sports and special events.
Building and Facility Maintenance:
- Construction and repair work on buildings, grounds, and related infrastructures.
- Includes carpentry, electrical, plumbing, patching, painting (outdoor & indoor), masonry, custodial work, and basic landscaping tasks.
- Cut and remove sections of concrete, asphalt, wood, or other materials.
Custodial:
- Clean and maintain restrooms, kitchens, offices, and meeting rooms.
- Vacuuming, sweeping, waxing, and polishing floors.
- Regularly collects trash and other rubbish for disposal from parks, facilities & buildings.
- Keep facilities stocked with necessary supplies.
Equipment Operation:
- Operates vehicles(trucks) for transporting materials and equipment.
- Uses various tools and equipment for irrigation and construction tasks, such as:
- Trenches, Pipe cutters, Sprinkler head tools, Meters (backflows).
- Masonry: Concrete cutter, finishing equipment, and breaking equipment.
- Basic hand tools, power tools, weeding, and gardening equipment.
Customer Services:
- Responds to inquiries and concerns from park patrons regarding irrigation systems and other concerns.
- Identifies and resolves irrigation-related issues.
- Refers complex issues to the supervisor for further action.
Safety and Recordkeeping:
- Follows established safety protocols for outdoor work.
- Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPR) for assigned Tasks.
- Will participate in safety training programs.
- Maintains and documents repairs, parts used, and labor hours for maintenance work & accurately completes records of irrigation system maintenance activities utilizing computerized maintenance management systems.
Special Events:
- Assists with setting up or taking down various equipment for District special events.
- May adjust irrigation schedules to accommodate the needs of special events.
Other duties may be assigned.
