Packaging Development, Assistant Manager
Job Overview
Support the Product Development Manager in leading new product and process development, from concept to final qualification. The role focuses on packaging materials, process improvement, sustainability and collaboration with customers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead new product and process development projects from concept to qualification.
- Develop testing protocols, quality checkpoints and control plans.
- Source and qualify new materials, suppliers and production lines.
- Drive sustainable packaging initiatives such as PFAS-free, recyclable and mono-material solutions.
- Supervise and mentor Product Development Engineers.
- Support departmental operations, KPIs, budgets and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with relevant food-contact packaging and quality standards.
- Work closely with customers, Production, Supply Chain and other departments.
- Support digitalisation and adoption of AI/business solutions.
Role Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years of Product Development or Process Engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of film, coating, lamination and printing processes.
- Experience with BOMs, technical drawings, control plans and process routings.
- Experience in team supervision, KPI management and operations.
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
