Packaging Engineer Intern
What You'll Get to Do
As a Packaging Engineering Intern, you will work in a fast-paced new product development environment, helping bring a wide variety of Home Improvement products from concept to launch.
You'll collaborate with Chemists, Brand Managers, Sourcing Leaders, Packaging Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Project Leaders to develop innovative packaging solutions for a diverse portfolio of products.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside an experienced engineering mentor who will provide guidance and hands-on experience while helping you build your packaging engineering knowledge and product development skills.
You'll also gain experience using SpecRight, our packaging specification management software, which centralizes packaging data and specifications for easy access across multiple departments.

Partner with Great Coworkers

Participate on cross-functional project teams to develop new products and manufacturing processes.

Present packaging design concepts and test results during technical reviews.

Work closely with your engineering mentor on assigned projects and technical initiatives.
New Package Design

Collaborate with project teams and external suppliers to brainstorm innovative packaging concepts.

Evaluate technical feasibility, manufacturability, and cost considerations.

Create packaging component drawings and engineering change requests.
Packaging Engineering Standards
-
Assist with developing and implementing packaging engineering design guides.

Support packaging testing standards and sustainability initiatives.

Help maintain packaging documentation and engineering specifications.
Minimum Requirements
Education
-
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience
-
Ability to create basic packaging component drawings; experience with SolidWorks is preferred.

Knowledge of packaging transportation test methods such as ISTA or ASTM.

Experience with basic data analysis and statistical evaluation of measurement data.

Familiarity with CAPE PACK software is a plus.

Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and use a computer for extended periods throughout the workday.

Ability to occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

Ability to travel occasionally to manufacturing facilities, suppliers, or testing locations, if required.
