The Key Purpose of this position is to lead and manage the Packaging Department (People, Plant, Process and Systems) in order to achieve the required standard of product quality and output in the most efficient and effective manner.
Maintain safe healthy and risk-free working environment:

Manage Human Resources:
Develop employees.
Ensure a healthy industrial relations climate.
Manage and apply people policies and practices. Develop employees
Manage talent and pipeline in packaging
Optimise Team Performance:
Facilitate effective team dynamics.
Implement performance management and OPR processes
Communicate effectively in the workplace.
Manage plant, process and systems:
Manages packaging in accordance with VPO tools and principles
Monitor and manage production processes to within budgets
Optimise production plan and shifts across the hall, aligned to agreed Run Strategies
Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Build and foster relationships with customers and suppliers.
Ensure conformance to specifications and standards
Ensure maintenance integrity
Optimize process capability
Lead packaging projects
Co-ordinate packaging logistics
Support engineering integrity
Conduct administration
Translate and implement packaging, manufacturing and business strategies:
Lead the VPO drive
Implement Technical Strategies
Implement packaging Capex projects

Minimum Requirements
Education: BSc or Engineer degree
Training: Min 3-6 months on the job training; Ideal 6-9 months on the job training
Experience: 2-3 years as Unit Manager or Packaging Engineer
Additional business qualification and completed and checked out Packaging Traineeship (Advantageous)
