Summary

Leads a packing and loading team in a food production facility, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency while operating warehouse equipment like forklifts.

SUMMARY

Operates and supervises all activities of the Packing and Loading Department to ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements in accordance with established company policies and procedures while maintaining the highest possible levels of safety, quality, and productivity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Supervises all personnel in the Packing and Loading Department
  2. Blends flour to meet BSM and/or customers’ specifications for the packing operation
  3. Directs all quality operations of the Packing and Loading Department to assure proper products are produced
  4. Schedules production and man hours in the absence of the PLW Manager/Supervisor
  5. Provides guidance, training, and mentoring to new team members as well as existing team members regarding company safety regulations, SOP’s, and any other pertinent requirements
  6. Motivates employees using sound techniques to achieve the highest possible levels of quality, efficiency, and accuracy
  7. Perform all work safely and in accordance with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards and Bay State Milling’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  8. Oversee and participates in all master cleaning schedule activities to ensure a sanitary and safe environment
  9. Participate in scheduled physical inventories as needed
  10. Operate forklift, Bobcat, telehandler & yard tractor as needed in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the optimum performance for the Packing & Loading Department
  11. Review all Packing and Loading paperwork for accuracy

NATURE AND SCOPE

Operates and provides production floor supervision of all activities of the Packing and Loading Department, as well as other reasonable plant operations as needed

DIMENSIONS

Primarily scheduled for one shift, however, extra hours, weekends or holidays may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  2. Must have good computer, math, writing, and reading skills.
  3. Employee must have the ability to become certified in the operation of warehouse equipment, forklift, bobcat, and electric pallet jack and other Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) as needed
  4. Product knowledge
  5. Detail-oriented
  6. Good judgment
  7. Problem solving skills
  8. Limited data entry skills
  9. Able to comprehend verbal or written instructions
  10. Ability to recognize process improvements opportunities and make recommendations
  11. Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills
  12. Must be dependable and a team player
  13. Ability to operate warehouse equipment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Employee must have the ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend instructions and documentation in the English Language.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Employee must have the ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and proportions in all units of measure used in practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Employee must have the ability to:

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Employee must have successful completion of forklift training, written exam and driving test. On-going training to enhance performance in position as required.
