Paint Booth Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Paint Booth Manager – Aerospace oversees daily operations of the paint booth area, ensuring high‑quality finishing of aerospace components in compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer specifications. This role is responsible for managing personnel, maintaining equipment, enforcing environmental and safety requirements, and driving continuous improvement in paint processes.

• Position Type: Exempt

• Location: Demgy Pacific, LLC, Tacoma WA

• Travel: Occasional, as needed (<20% of overall time, including possible international travel)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations Management

• Oversee daily workflow within the paint booth, including scheduling, work assignments, and production priorities

• Ensure all parts are prepped, primed, painted, cured, and inspected according to engineering specifications and customer requirements

• Maintain strict adherence to AS9100, FAA, and OEM process standards where applicable

• Monitor quality metrics and implement corrective actions to ensure consistent finish quality

Team Leadership

• Supervise, train, and develop paint technicians, sanding/prep teams, and finishing personnel

• Conduct performance evaluations, manage attendance, and address employee relations issues in partnership with HR

• Promote a positive, safety‑focused culture and ensure team competency in proper painting techniques and equipment use

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce OSHA, EPA, and environmental compliance standards, including proper handling of hazardous materials (paints, solvents, coatings)

• Maintain safety protocols involving respirators, ventilation systems, PPE, and fire suppression systems

• Conduct regular safety audits and coordinate corrective actions as needed

Equipment & Facility Maintenance

• Oversee maintenance, calibration, and repair of paint booths, spray guns, curing ovens, ventilation systems, and air compressors

• Manage inventory of coatings, chemicals, masks, filters, and other paint materials

• Coordinate with maintenance teams or contractors to minimize equipment downtime

Quality Assurance

• Collaborate with Quality teams to investigate defects, implement process improvements, and maintain documentation.

• Ensure proper masking, coating thickness, adhesion, and finish standards are achieved.

• Lead root‑cause analysis for paint rework or scrap and drive continuous improvement.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of batch numbers, paint logs, environmental readings, and inspection results

• Write and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and training documents

• Provide production reports and data to leadership regarding throughput, quality trends, and resource needs
