Paint Director

SUMMARY:

Assumes responsibility and is accountable for revenue growth and the profitability of the Paint Department. Directs paint operations for Parts Center Hawaii, Inc. for the Big Island. Leader fulfills responsibility using sound business leadership and management practices. Plan, motivate, and coordinate the activities of the Paint Team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Directs all Paint Operations for PCH.
  • Develops strategic business plans to drive sustainable growth. Implements GM approved business plans.
  • Establishes department standards, policies, and operating procedures that align with Company policies and GM approved processes.
  • Provides paint technical expertise and related leadership to all PCH store locations. Works with GM and Store leaders to train staff as needed.
  • Supports and assists paint sales personnel in growing retail, commercial, industrial, and fleet paint sales.
  • Identifies and pursues new GM-approved business opportunities.
  • Works to increase market share by targeting sales initiatives, customer outreach, and relationship building.
  • Provides enthusiastic leadership to help shape Coworkers' attitudes and build morale. Recruits, hires, mentors, and motivates all Paint Personnel.
  • Ensures hiring processes are followed and required forms submitted in a timely manner.
  • Ensures job descriptions for all paint positions are reviewed and updated on an annual basis.
  • Ensures open positions are posted and the required Human Resources requisition process is completed within three (3) business days of vacancies.
  • Directs and monitors all Paint personnel and completes a performance evaluation of all Paint personnel on an annual scheduled basis.
  • Meets with General Manager to develop monthly goals and objectives for the Paint Department, review actual performance, and develop and assess Action Plans. Implement General Manager approved Paint Department Action Plans to achieve goals, objectives, and KPIs.
  • Holds monthly Paint operation meetings with store personnel to ensure that each Store is operating effectively, efficiently, profitably, and aligned with monthly Action Plans.
  • Monitors daily operating reports and recommend to the General Manager improved courses of action where necessary.
  • Develops and maintains a good working relationship with all Store Leaders, employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Communicates Company policies and processes to Paint Personnel and ensures that they are understood and followed.
  • Implements, with General Manager approval, all Action Plans that will increase sales and revenue and profits for the Paint Department.
  • Works to strengthen relationships with key commercial accounts, contractors, body shops, and industrial customers.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with paint manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Negotiates pricing, promotions, training opportunities, and vendor support.
  • Evaluates and recommends new products and technologies to improve competitiveness to the GM and Executive Management. Implements and integrates approved products and technologies effectively within the Paint Department.
  • Recommends new product lines, services, and revenue opportunities to the GM. Works with GM and Executive management to implement approved plans.
  • Develops long-terms plans to expand the Paint division and increase market share. Works with GM and Executive management to implement approved plans.
  • Ensures exceptional customer service standards is maintained across all paint operations.
  • Resolves any customer complaints that Paint Personnel has been unable to resolve in a timely manner.
  • Ensures all Paint Personnel and Paint operations adhere to Company Policies and processes.
  • Ensures information and reports coming from Paint department(s) are accurate and timely.
  • Ensures that the Company meets or exceeds its paint sales objectives on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis.
  • Ensures that the retail and wholesale business produces sufficient gross profit to aid the Company in reaching its profit objectives.
  • Develops and implements GM-approved marketing and merchandising activities (especially sales events.) that align with monthly Action Plans and adhere to Company policies and procedures.
  • Assists the GM in developing and implementing additional leadership and career pathway opportunities for Paint Personnel.
  • Ensure and maintain a balanced paint inventory that effectively attains sales goals.
  • Manages Paint inventory in a manner that ensures annual obsolescence is less than 2.5% of the average inventory balance.
  • Participates in the store annual and/or periodic Parts Inventory.
  • Review on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis Paint department expenses and implement effective measures to address potential issues.
  • Develops and maintains an effective Delivery Management Program for Paint that aligns with Company policies and procedures, ensures driver efficiency, and utilizes required equipment and technologies.
  • Enforces safety requirements, including but not limited to forklift training and operation, processing of SDS sheets on all products carried, and OSHA Right-to-Know.
  • Maintains and assures the Paint operations is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations that may affect Store operations. Works with Chief Information Security Officer [CISO] and GM to ensure compliance.
  • Ensures payroll-related functions, including but not limited to approving timesheets and leave requests, are completed in a timely manner and within required deadlines.
  • Ensures Paint operations at various locations is staffed effectively, schedule is communicated to all Paint Personnel and management (Store Leader, Co-Leader, or a Lead) is present during operational hours.
  • Conducts Paint staff meetings and periodic staff training.
  • Ensures mandatory manufacturing, safety compliance, and cybersecurity training of staff are completed in a timely manner.
  • Attends mandatory management meetings.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Ensures that the work area is kept clean.
  • Completes and remains current with all mandatory manufacturing, safety compliance, safeguards, and cybersecurity training.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Compensate for any personnel deficiencies that may lead to the Store's not attaining their goals.
  • Ensure all Paint staff meet and/or exceed training requirements.
  • Assist with PCH location annual Parts Inventory events.
  • Ensures all Safety platform tickets are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures all Facilities repairs have been completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all Vendor Requests are accompanied by at least two vendor quotes.
  • Ensure all deposits and cash processes are completed accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Ensure all Store vehicles are kept in good working condition and serviced on regular basis. Create and maintain a Paint Vehicle Service Worksheet report.
  • Other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Executive Admin.
