Park Ranger (Interpretation)
These positions are located in the Pacific West Regional Office, Interior Regions 8, 9, 10, and 12, within the Southeast Idaho National Parks Group. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. See Duties section for more information. Travel, transportation & relocation expenses will not be paid. Relocation expenses will be the employee's responsibility.

Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument, Hagerman, ID - GS-05/07/09, 2 positions available, Career Seasonal, non-pay expected for appx. 3 months (6 pay periods) Nov to Feb, Driver's License required. Minidoka National Historic Site, Jerome, ID - GS-05/07/09, Career Seasonal, non-pay expected for appx. 3 months (6 pay periods) Nov to Feb, Driver's License required. Major duties may include, but are not limited to: Develop and present a wide variety of formal and informal audience learner-centered interpretive experiences using a variety of fully developed interpretive skills, techniques and tools delivered in-person and through interpretive media and technology. Guide the learning of others through formal and informal methods in visitor operations and interpretive/educational programming, while creating a positive work environment. Build on traditional relationships and work towards identifying and establishing new partnerships. Coordinate, develop and/or lead digital strategies and efforts to implement and sustain exiting/new media platforms. Manage the day-to-day operation of a visitor facility and/or information desk. Coordinate the volunteer and youth programs. Assist with planning and installation of on-site and virtual exhibits. Provide logistical and operational support for seasonal employees, youth service-learners, youth inclusion work crews, and volunteers. Aid in the management, administrative functions, and lead responsibilities of a seasonal shuttle system. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. You are required to wear a uniform and comply with uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You are required to complete training, obtain and maintain a government credit card with travel and purchase authority. You may be required to travel overnight away from home. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 1-yea probationary period to evaluate your fitness and whether your continuation of employment advances the public interest. This probationary period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, the agency will consider: your performance and conduct; the needs and interests of the agency; whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service. Under applicable law, the employment of an individual serving a probationary or trial period automatically terminates when that period ends unless the agency affirmatively certifies, in writing, that the individual's employment should continue and that their appointment should be finalized. In the absence of agency action to affirmatively certify continued employment beyond the probationary or trial period, such appointments are terminated.
