Priory Hospital Nelson House as an opportunity for a Chef to join our team. This role is offered on a Part Time basis working 15 hours per week on a rota basis. The pro rata salary is £11,857.99 per annum.

This role offers a flexible part-time shift pattern, including every other weekend working with additional weekday shifts on Mondays or Fridays. The typical rota consists of one week working Monday, Saturday and Sunday, followed by the following week working Friday only. There may also be opportunities to provide additional cover for holidays, training, and occasional sickness. Shifts are 10:15am–6:15pm Monday to Saturday and 9:30am–5:30pm on Sundays. Please note, there will be some lone working required on Saturdays.

Priory Hospital Nelson House, Gosport, Hampshire is a rehabilitation service offering level 1 and level 2 care for males with mental health conditions and complex needs, including behaviours that challenge and substance misuse issues. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes along Rowner Road and Portsmouth Harbour railway station approximately 3–4 miles from the service.
You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients. While your role doesn’t involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.

You'll play a key role in delivering nutritious, high-quality meals for our patients, colleagues and visitors. Working closely with the Head Chef, you'll help plan, prepare and cook meals while ensuring all dietary requirements, food allergen guidance and food safety standards are met.

Essential for the role
  • NVQ Level 2, City & Guilds Level 2 or equivalent catering qualification.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3 desirable or willingness to work towards).
  • Knowledge of food allergens and specialist dietary requirements.
  • Experience working in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A passion for delivering high-quality food and excellent customer service.
