Part-Time Faculty: COM 117: Multimedia Storytelling Labs (Fall2026)
The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse University is seeking an individual(s) to lead pairs of COM 117 Multimedia Storytelling Labs during the Fall 2026 semester. The two labs are taught in conjunction with a main teaching section of Multimedia Storytelling, which is led by a lead instructor.
Each pair of labs will be paid for the equivalent of one credit hour. Available lab sections pairs are:
Tuesday 5:00pm-6:20pm & Tuesday 6:30pm-7:50pm
Wednesday 5:15pm-6:35pm & Wednesday 6:45pm-8:05pm
Thursday 5:00pm-6:20pm & Thursday 6:30pm-7:50pm
Friday 9:30am-10:50am & Friday 11:15am-12:35pm

Course Description: These labs will meet during the first five weeks of the semester to give students needed skills to succeed in the main class. Instructors will need to teach Adobe Premiere and how to use mobile phones to shoot video for narrative, documentary and advertising purposes.
COM 117 is a foundation course required for all majors in the Newhouse School. Students work collaboratively in teams of three to produce a variety of short films that tell stories that persuade, document, and entertain predefined audiences. In the main class, basic story structure is taught as well as how to write and edit stories for video production. Students learn digital photography, videography, and editing for sound and picture.
