Job Summary
Carewell Ambulance Services seeks compassionate Part-Time Medical Escorts to accompany and assist patients during medical appointments, hospital transfers, and scheduled transport, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout.
Responsibilities
- Accompany patients safely to and from hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and residences
- Assist patients with boarding and alighting from ambulances or transport vehicles securely
- Support patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, and other mobility aids during transport
- Ensure safe handover of patients to healthcare staff or authorised next of kin
- Remain with patients during appointments when required to provide support
- Monitor patients’ general condition and promptly report concerns to ambulance crew or healthcare personnel
- Assist with completing service documentation, obtaining required signatures and official stamps
- Communicate politely and professionally with patients, next of kin, and healthcare staff to facilitate smooth service
- Follow Carewell’s operational, safety, and infection-control procedures consistently
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Operations Team
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Relevant healthcare, caregiving, nursing, or patient-transport experience
- Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
- Ability to communicate clearly in English; additional languages or dialects are advantageous
- Physically fit to assist with wheelchair and stretcher handling
- Patient, caring, and comfortable working with elderly or medically vulnerable patients
- Responsible, punctual, and able to work independently
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and Public Holidays
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
