A warm French/American family in Portsmouth, NH 03801 is seeking a reliable, active, and caring part-time nanny to assist with afternoon pickups and care for their 2.5-year-old toddler and kindergarten-aged child. The family offers guaranteed hours and the option to expand the role to include house management duties for candidates seeking additional time.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday: ~2:30 PM / 2:45 PM – 5:30 PM (Guaranteed afternoon hours)
- Optional: Additional hours available before or after childcare for House Manager duties
- Start Date: ASAP
Family Specifications:
- Pet-free home
Family car available for child duty, or gas stipend provided if using personal vehicle - School pickups involve a short, 10-to-15-minute sidewalk walk (walking preferred, driving optional)
Responsibilities:
- Walk (~15 minutes with stroller) to pick up the 2.5-year-old from downtown preschool at 3:00 PM, followed by picking up the older child from kindergarten
Provide engaging afternoon care, lead outdoor/play activities, and take visits to local playgrounds or the library - Prepare light snacks and assist with potty training/diapers as needed
- Maintain a warm, encouraging environment centered on outdoor play and reading
- Optional House Manager Responsibilities: Light organizing, running family errands, and meal prep (if expanding hours)
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with toddlers and young school-aged children
Active demeanor and comfortable walking short distances in various weather conditions - Valid driver's license (if choosing to drive for care duties)
- Dependable, warm, and punctual
Compensation:
- $20.00–$35.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
Guaranteed consistent weekly hours - Flexible scheduling options for expanded house management duties
- Family vehicle provided for kid transport or gas reimbursement if using personal car
