PROGRAM: Food and Wellness Network (FAWN)

ROLE TYPE: Part-Time

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Operations Coordinator for the Food and Wellness Network (FAWN) at Turning Points for Children handles purchasing and storage of food and supplies; handles requests for service; greets clients during program hours, collects intake information; manages data; assembles packages for families; generates required reports; and provides additional support and data on an as-needed basis. The FAWN Operations Coordinator acts as the on-site task manager for all volunteers while at the pantry. This position reports to the FAWN Program Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Food Distribution

  • Manages on-site operations for FAWN pantries and liaises with site contacts when relevant
  • Orders food weekly, accepts deliveries, and assists with restocking supplies, including the breakdown of large volume purchases
  • Coordinates the packing of bags for other Turning Points programs and partners
  • Assists with calls to FAWN inquiring about the program; collects intake data, including name, number of family members, need, etc.; determines eligibility; schedules pantry appointments
  • Greets clients during distribution hours and ensures that all clients have completed intake prior to receiving pantry resources, if relevant
  • Collects and records data for FAWN (e.g., food purchased; donations received; households served; food distributed; etc.)
  • Participates in arranging deliveries of in-kind donations to FAWN, sorting donations, and arranging the distribution of donations to FAWN clients as appropriate
  • Coordinates logistics for pop-up pantries when relevant

Volunteers

  • Recruits a volunteer base to support pantry operations, including unloading and storing food donations, stocking pantry shelves, and staffing the pantry during open hours
  • Monitors, coordinates, and manages volunteers at FAWN pantries, including facilitating meetings and trainings
  • Orients new volunteers to all TPFC and FAWN pantry policies, procedures, and expectations

Program Support

  • Develops social media content and communication material for FAWN
  • Supports partnerships with institutions, organizations, and programs that can provide resources and tools to FAWN clients based on their needs
  • Support the Case Management program where needed

Administrative

  • Attends mandatory training programs provided by Philabundance
  • Reports any problems/risk management issues to the FAWN Program Director
  • Participates in staff meetings, team meetings, and supervisory meetings as scheduled
  • Participates in the quality improvement process and training activities
  • Maintains coherence with Turning Points for Children’s vision, mission, and goals
  • Maintains the highest ethical standards in organizational operations and individual professional conduct
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor or executive management

  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position (managing food loading, storing food, and preparing food bags)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires frequent standing/walking; lifting/carrying; pushing/pulling; bending/stooping; using arm, leg, and back muscles for extended periods; and unloading vehicles.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree required

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 2 years of experience related to hunger relief, food services, or social services

PAY GRADE: 14
