Job Description: Roof Inspector – Part Time
I. Primary Purpose
Perform roof inspections for RAM customers within a 4-hour radius of Pittsburgh, PA.
II. Reporting Relationship
REPORTS TO: The Vice President and General Manager of Roof Asset Management
FLSA STATUS: Hourly, Non-exempt
III. Primary Function
The Roof Inspector is to perform roof inspections, identifying service work needed and necessary information/recommendations to the client to obtain a contract. This role works closely with estimators and account representatives.
If there are no roof inspections to perform, this person would be expected to perform service work. This role must coordinate their schedule with Burns and Scalo’s service manager.
IV. Duties and Responsibilities
· Complete Inspections
o Schedule inspections following customer availability and RAM inspection plan
o Completes thorough inspections, documenting conditions and deficiencies with photos and descriptions, and estimated roof replacement year.
o Work in collaboration with estimators to complete estimated pricing for repairs and reroofs
o Provide inspections to RAM Roof Inspector with thorough explanations of the contents of the inspection reports
· Ability to work safely and capably on all roof systems listed below
o Abide by all safety requirements, including PPE, fall protection, and others.
o Demonstrate proficiency in roof system repair.
o Complete documentation required to log and bill jobs.
· Deliver excellent quality and customer satisfaction
o Perform work according to company standards.
o As a company representative, exhibit professional and courteous behavior when interacting with members of the public.
V. Position Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Customer and Personal Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
· Work Preferences – Should enjoy unpredictability and problem solving
· Roof System Knowledge – Knowledge of various roof systems and materials and methods of repair and maintenance and the ability to teach others (flat and steep slope roof types)
· Analysis – Ability to conduct roof inspections and troubleshooting, detect and repair the roof system problems
· Customer and Personal Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
· Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze and interpret work-related documents and written instructions, including blueprints.
· Technology – Ability to use phones, tablets, computers, and other technology tools
o Database software: MasterKey (in-house proprietary software)
· Safety and security – Ability to identify, correct and report unsafe conditions according to company and OSHA standards; use equipment and materials properly and effectively, working closely with Safety Department
· Quality – Knowledge to inspect and ensure attention to detail
o Apply feedback to improve performance
o Demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail
o Look for ways to improve and promote quality
o Monitor work to ensure quality
· Ability to take roof measurements
· A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Education and Experience
Essential
· Minimum of two years of roofing experience with two years of experience as a foreman or equivalent
· High school diploma or its equivalent
· English fluency
Preferred
· 5 Years+ of roofing experience
· OSHA 10-hour training certificate

· Vision abilities required by this job may include close vision.
· This position will require lifting and climbing ladders, walking on roofs, both flat and sloped; balancing, lifting (minimum of 20 lbs.), stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
· All employees must be able to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
