Part-time Security Officer

Security Officers are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and the community. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Security, Security Officers will collaborate with school administrators to implement and oversee comprehensive safety measures and emergency protocols to ensure the well-being of all campus constituents.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Visible Campus Presence:

  • Maintain a visible presence during school hours, before and after school, and at on-campus events to deter risks and ensure safety.

• Liaison Duties:

  • Act as a key point of contact between the school and local first responders and emergency management organizations.

• Training and Support:

  • Assist in conducting security-related training for faculty and staff to enhance campus preparedness.

• Record Keeping:

  • Help front desk personnel maintain a security log for activities and incidents, providing necessary statistics and functional data.

• Clerical Support:

  • Perform administrative functions related to emergency management and security protocols.

• Additional Responsibilities:

  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Security.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in law enforcement, security, criminal justice, military, emergency management, or a related field.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Security Management, Homeland Security, or a related field (preferred).

• Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven qualities of diplomacy, flexibility, adaptability, and honesty.

  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving skills, determination, and a solid work ethic.

  • Commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, and effective learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.

• Professional Development:

  • Willingness to participate in periodic security training, including sessions that may occur outside regular working hours.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this role, you must be able to:

• Sit, turn, bend, reach, walk, talk, and hear while interacting with faculty, staff, and others in person and by phone.

• Work in a high-stress environment with diverse challenges, deadlines, and contacts.

• Work at a desk and computer.

• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
