The Opportunity
Fnality is building the future of financial market infrastructure, creating regulated, DLT-based payment systems for wholesale financial markets.
We’re looking for a Participant Manager to join Fnality US and lead major financial institutions through onboarding to the Fnality Payment System.
This is a hands-on role at the intersection of banking operations, payments, technology and client implementation. You’ll be the key point of coordination for participants, helping them navigate the operational, technical and organisational requirements needed to successfully connect to and go live with Fnality.
We’re particularly interested in people who understand how large banks work. You may have built your experience in payments, clearing, settlement, treasury or another banking operations environment, in client implementation or technical onboarding for a financial technology provider, or ideally across both.
What You’ll Do
Support pre-sales discussions, ensuring prospective participant banks understand Fnality’s onboarding journey, requirements and the options available to them.
Lead participants through the end-to-end onboarding process, from initial handover through to readiness and go-live.
Act as the primary day-to-day contact for participants throughout onboarding and implementation.
Build and manage onboarding plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, actions and RAID logs.
Coordinate operational and technical onboarding, including participant-specific configuration and pre-production testing.
Work with Fnality Legal to coordinate NDAs, Participant Agreements and, where required, central bank account-holding agreements.
Work with Risk to ensure the risk profile of individual participants is understood and documented.
Work with Commercial teams on pricing and any required pricing exceptions.
Help participants navigate their own internal onboarding requirements, including vendor due diligence and New Product Approval processes.
Build strong relationships across participant operations, payments, treasury, technology, information security, legal, risk, compliance and procurement teams.
Navigate the governance and organisational complexity of G-SIBs and other major financial institutions, keeping multiple stakeholders and workstreams moving.
Identify and escalate issues that could impact participant readiness or go-live.
Support participants once live, coordinating operational issues, changes and ongoing engagement.
Bring participant feedback into Fnality to continually improve our onboarding approach and participant experience.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll ideally bring a combination of:
Banking operations experience, particularly within payments, clearing, settlement, treasury operations, cash management, transaction banking or another relevant middle- or back-office function; and/or
Client implementation or technical onboarding experience within a financial services software, payments, fintech or financial infrastructure provider.
You’ll also have:
Strong understanding of the US banking and payments environment.
Experience working with large, complex financial institutions, ideally G-SIBs.
Experience with payment, clearing and/or settlement systems.
Knowledge and practical experience of SWIFT ISO 20022 MX messaging.
Understanding of API connectivity within financial services and how it supports client integration.
Experience managing complex implementations from planning and requirements through testing and go-live.
Understanding of bank due diligence, vendor onboarding and New Product Approval processes.
Strong project management skills, including maintaining project plans and RAID logs and managing multiple interdependent workstreams.
Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence engaging senior stakeholders.
The ability to work across both technical and non-technical teams and translate requirements between them.
A strong ownership mindset and the ability to identify problems, challenge constructively and drive issues through to resolution.
It Would Be Great If You Also Have
Experience spanning both banking operations and financial technology or software implementation.
Direct experience onboarding G-SIBs or other major financial institutions.
Understanding of capital markets settlement processes, including Delivery versus Payment (DvP) and Payment versus Payment (PvP).
Broader knowledge of US wholesale payments and settlement infrastructure.
Familiarity with areas such as Fedwire, correspondent banking and liquidity management.
Experience within a regulated payment system, financial market infrastructure or fintech environment.
Understanding of DLT and its application within financial services.
What Will Make You Successful
You can move comfortably between conversations about banking operations, payments and settlement and those about technology, connectivity and testing.
You understand how large banks work in practice, including their governance, controls, due diligence and internal approval processes. You enjoy bringing structure to complex implementations, building trusted relationships and getting multiple teams moving towards the same outcome.
Most importantly, you can sit across the table from the operations or technology team of a major global bank, understand their challenges, explain Fnality’s onboarding requirements clearly, challenge constructively when needed, and lead them confidently towards a controlled and successful go-live.
Why should you join Fnality?
We employ curious individuals who thrive working in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment, who work best when empowered to drive their own work, and who are not afraid to fail fast and learn quicker.
You will be an analytical thinker who is able to look at tasks and understand the most efficient way to achieve the desired outcome. You will be vigilantly outcomes-focussed and have an insatiable desire to learn, adept at picking up new challenges and giving anything a go. You will want to deliver as much as learn and you will understand how important the power of the team is.
A bit more about us
Digital transformation is changing our lives, work and businesses. While other sectors evolve, however, financial markets remain slow, fragmented and siloed. What the world needs now is a future-facing financial system for the digital age.
At Fnality, we have been speaking – and listening – to the real users of today’s financial systems. From businesses to banks, there is a clear, collective ambition for a simpler, faster, safer and more resilient payment system; one that can move and settle money quickly and efficiently, with minimized risk and much more transparency.
Fnality Global Payments
We are building a network of new payment systems that will enable tokenised, peer-to-peer markets.
Fnality Global Payments (FnGP) will comprise a series of national systems, each regulated in its home jurisdiction. We call each of these a Fnality Payment System (FnPS).
In each payment system, a Fnality settlement asset will act as the settlement/payment asset for any Payment (P), Delivery v, Payment (DvP) or payment vs. payment (PvP) need.
FnGP are underpinned by Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). The nature of DLT is such that it enables FnGP to:
· Operate a true peer-to-peer market
· Allow for immediate settlement
· Interoperate across business platforms and jurisdictions
The key benefits of the above are:
· Reduced counter-party and credit risk
· Reduced operational risk
· Efficient liquidity management
· An ability to move resources from risk mitigation to business growth
Eligibility
This is a hybrid role based out of Connecticut, and requires you to be located in the tri-state area. You must be eligible to work in the US as we are not able to sponsor visas.
